Paranoia - Could Ivory be banged up? (1 Viewer)

Yeah, and things that Payton might not have done. He would have gone for the throat, swept the leg, and put them down with a play action pass from Brees to Graham or a surprise end around. It was the safe call, but I miss the days when Payton would have gone for the throat and ended the game right there.

I remember the play you're talking about.. Saints get a safety, up by 3 in a division game that puts us back in the hunt for the playoffs.. Just run out the clock, and end it. What does Payton do? He "goes for the throat" and calls a double-reverse..

We fumble. We lose.

Payton said he learned from the kind of mistakes you are describing in your post.

I'm just incredibly thankful that stiff arm didn't come during the replacement ref games. They probably would have been too dumb to tell the difference between touching the facemask and grabbing it.

His last play was around 9min left in the 4th quarter. I just looked at the play by play on nfl.com I'll have to watch it when I get home.

Just saying, Ivory has a history of tweaking things and being out a game or two. It's probably the main reason the team won't feature him. His violence in running also leads to injuries.

Hope he's fine though.

Ivory also doesn't have the coaching staff's trust yet when it comes to holding onto the ball. Because of that I don't think we'll see him late in any game when we're protecting the lead, as long as Pierre and Ingram are available.

Can't blame them for that one. I'm CIs biggest fan but no way he gets the ball in that situation. He'll keep fighting instead of going down and he us a lot more likely to fumble.

Just sayin... I bet you $100 if Payton was on the sidelines yesterday, he throws it and tries for a 1st down to kill it ourselves in victory formation.

And I bet you $1M that if Payton had and they not succeeded, you'd be seeing a lot of pitchforks and torches headed Payton's way. It really is true that you just can't please some people.
