Saints Pat Swilling's son Tre Swilling signed to Practice Squad (2 Viewers)

Has nice explosion and agility scores, but his speed is horrendous. Given how well the Saints have done with scouting their defensive backs, and the fact elite football is in his DNA, hoping something good develops!

He said in an interview that he had been running some high 4.4 to 4.5 40's leading up to pro day or combine and the 40 was late in the day and he didn't run well.

When they issued the tryout list a few days ago, I thought he looked like practice squad material if he ran well. To me he's a dime back or safety. He has some decent size and I assume he can hit because his name is Swilling. I really hope it works out for him.

I personally believe the 40 is the most overrated measuring stick in football. With how well he graded in explosion and agility, yet didn't stick with a team, I am thinking he isn't mentally processing the speed of the game fast enough. Would be incredible if it is able to "click" with the Saints.

Steve Stonebreaker‘s wiki page states that he and his father are one of four father -son duo’s to have played for the Saints .. presumably that was written prior to the Tre Swilling signing today, so besides the Mautis and Stonebreakers- who were the other two father -son pairs ?

The Mautis right?

Honestly seems like yesterday that #56 was terrorising offensive tackles all over the league. Don’t think Ive ever seen anyone with the size, speed, wingspan, and acceleration combination of a prime Pat Swilling. Legend
