Per Nick Underhill: Dennis Allen spoke extensively about the red zone issues. Says it’s a combination of play calls, execution and coaching (1 Viewer)

This is part of what I was talking about during the discussion of "upgrades." We finished 21st in the red zone last season and then went and got a QB that is normally rated as one of the worst QBs in the red zone. No on should be shocked by this outcome.
My goodness Jah, when will you understand that the QB is not the only one responsible for RZ efficiency?

I’m cool with it taking time for chemistry to build between Carr and the receivers. I’m not cool with this veteran offensive line (apart from Penning) who we have a large portion of our cap and draft picks invested in, struggling the way they have this season.
I think the biggest answer to that is Marrone, Saban knew he was trash and fired him after 1 yr. He's been here 2 yrs and our OL has regressed ever since

So did I, on 1st DC missed TH blowing by the LB and wide open instead chose to throw to a confused Olave , 2nd looks like DC changed the play and didn't call a hot route , 3rd DC changes the call to a good one but Shaheed was in LaLa land , on 4th TH slips PC's fault ? NO

Ben Johnson has made Goff relevant again. That's how good his play design and playcalling are.
Johnson had a come to Jesus with Goff , made him stop playing hero ball and take what the D was giving. He's good at design and has a feel for the game. He's who I want so far if we can fire DA at the end of the season

My goodness DSn, when will you realize that Carr is near or at the bottom of every single QB stat and metric in the red zone and film is backing up the bad play in the red zone? He can move the ball between the 20s but when the field shrinks and the WRs don't have as much spacing, thing change.

Yes, it's PC's fault.

One, we don't know what the audible actually was. Two, even if an audible was called at the line to change a hot route or something, PC still called the same formation four straight plays into the heart of a defense that had already adjusted after 1st down.

The concepts on those plays were dumb and predictable. Communication issues are on the offensive coordinator. The buck stops with him.

When Winston plays for a team that struggles in the red zone, then it will be everyone's fault except the QB.
Who is talking about Winston, though? We are talking about the historical struggle of Carr in the RZ and the issue that we are facing as a team now. We are a bottom 10 offense in scoring with the 5th worst RZ conversion rate; that's not a coincidence.

That's just not altogether true. 1st down 4wide 3x1 AK to the left. 2nd down still the same, 3rd down 3wide 2x1 in a much tighter set with TH in the slot
4th back to the 4 wide spread. Had to keep AK in for blocking since our OL was in shambles. In a hurry up in obvious passing downs there's not a lot change in formations. So on 1st down where Olave is not paying attention to DC calling the play and being clueless about the route this being his 2nd yr in the O. I guess that's PC's fault too.
DC missing a wide open TH on 1st down when he was looking right at him , also PC's fault. Shaheed being clueless as to which route to run on 3rd down? Of course It's PC's mistake.. Also in 2 of those last plays DC changes the call
