Article Per PFT: Saints switch Taysom to QB on roster designation. (2 Viewers)

It's not about that. It's the fact that a decent draft pick was used on him and he can't make it to third string. Now he is suspended.

We as fans want Taysom to be freed up to play any role. Taysom as Qb is OK but him as a versatile weapon I'd deadly
I get that. The question is if Carr and JW go down, who is going to start. That would be Taysom. Doesnt matter if they used a draft pick or not. We know we can win games with Taysom.

What prevents Taysom from playing any role? Just because the letters "QB" now appear on paper next to his name you believe we are going to change our approach with him?
A Carr injury or by some fluke a Winston one.

Let's put this into some perspective. Carr has only missed 2 games due to injuries in his career. It's an unlikely and improbable scenario.

I believe player 48 would almost certainly be another special teams contributor.

Outside of the backup QBs, just about every player on a team's gameday active roster is indeed, "active" in the game in some capacity. It isn't like college or high school, where you have guys on the sideline merely there to be a full-time spectator.
I agree that's where they would end up, but since someone else sits on the bench if #48 plays, is the last guy that much of a better fit for those few snaps to make a difference?

Also, I didn't check all games, but through the first eight in 2022, we averaged two players with five or fewer snaps and three players with ten or fewer snaps per game. The last guy in will probably get a handful of snaps, and I just don't think that's more valuable than having a QB at the ready to run your offense. The wildcat will be tremendously less effective if we are rolling it out as our primary package instead of a change of pace.
