I cant see any imaginable situation where Pete keeps his job. I know what you are all going to say "Gayle is detached, Mickey runs the old boys club". But damn, it will be riots in the streets if they keep him. And that's IF DA keeps HIS job. So you can forget about Ben Johnson coming here as a OC or Miami's OC or whoever in a lateral move. But is it Curry who gets the job?

I don't see him keeping his job as Playcalling OC. I can see him remaining with the team in more of a background/supporting role, but not as the Playcalling OC. Players who have been here for years didn't just all of the sudden stop liking/respecting him, but his deficiencies as a playcaller are being exposed and that has led to frustration.

I think there is a lot of hope that Loomis will see that he made a big mistake and this team is sliding and that the goodwill fans have extended during some rough years has run dry. I think there are also a lot of fans that don't believe Loomis will pull the trigger on making any meaningful changes. He himself hasn't been in the firing business for a very long time and the people he'd have to fire he's known for a very long time. It is more likely that Pete will pull a Payton and need a "break" from coaching and will have a little press conference.

My money is there will be big coaching changes in the offseason (assuming we miss the playoffs which odds are we do). Nothing would surprise me though.

That's a very logical and possible thing to happen. If he didn't want the OC in the first place (someone who knows their strengths/weaknesses) and was talked into it (get out of your comfort zone) only to show that he was exactly right in his limitations would lead to burnout and the need to take a break.

I think moving on from Pete is Loomis' ideal plan to placate the fans, who he thinks are stupid. Lucky Loo will only clean the house if the bottom falls out because we know he doesn't want serious change or to admit hiring Allen was a major mistake. That said, I really don't blame Pete for any of this because Allen could have chosen someone else from the start.

Loomis knows the fans are emotional and mostly over emotional. We want knee jerk reactions for the most part but that’s no way to run a business and lead people. That being said, I don’t know how you can deny Pete isn’t the right man for the job. First of all, he didn’t want it and didn’t lobby for it. He knows his limitations.

I don't know that DA was ever really hired to be head coach. I kind of feel like he was kind of promoted as permanent interim HC after Payton stepped down. There weren't any other major changes made to the staff, only some small position coach changes. Loomis definitely thinks the fans are stupid though. This is the wrong fan base to say "We have the right guys in place" to when they all can see the contrary.

I’m worried we will “let Pete step away” and then hire internally. It’s time for a fresh face and new ideas for the offense.

I think he will handle it like he will most business decisions. He will look at all the options, including keeping DA. DA will need to come up with a plan to right the ship or he will be gone. There will definitely be coaching changes even if DA stays. I think the O-line coach will be first to go. But I expect the Saints to try to make a splash free agent signing, most likely on D-line or O-line. And maybe trade up in the draft for an offensive player they really like and give DA another year. I think DA keeps Pete, but not as OC. I think the next OC is not in the building. But it's all just speculation on my part. I really have no clue.

When I say I don't blame Pete, I mean the so-called HC named him OC even though he didn't want the job. That's a failure of leadership. Do you mean to tell me you are getting a second chance at something, and instead of assembling the best team you can hire, you go with the guy who really didn't want to be there? I blame the coach. Heads of companies get fired all of the time for poor hiring decisions.

I feel like Lucky Loo has the blind leading the blind at this point.
