Saber rattling on Payton's part. Trying to get PT back on the field. Thomas is clearly unhappy about his contract situation and wants to stay with the Saints. Sad but I don't see this working out well for either side.

Until Ivory shows he can trusted to pick up the blitz and run the Saints bread and butter screen play then PT is still a lock for the active roster.

Pierre hasnt looked good this year. Maybe it was his contract situation that caused him to slip a bit, but he has looked sluggish and heavier this year. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that Ivory is a better pure RB, he runs hard, finds the hole and hits it and if nothing is there he is quick to assess his options - he just needs to work on the way he carries the ball in traffic. I know its only one game, but when you watch Ivory play - you see a RB, not a scatback or a change of pace back. Pierre is still valuable because of injuries - but if you are looking at Ivory as your primary back and I have to pick between Reggie and Pierre as your do it all back, Im taking Reggie no contest. Pierre has never carried the load at RB, and has proven that he is injury prone.

I say its a crapshoot report by glazer trying to get a response. Do you really think Payton and Loomis would bring in 2 RB's if Pierre was able to play? Do you think Payton and Loomis would not play the best players as part of a contract negotiation ploy? In a contract year do you think Pierre wants to sit on the sideline?

Glazer has nothing and he is trying to stir it up to get people to talk.

well, he could be a healthy scratch or he could be a doghouse. who really knows?

I really don't see PT being a Saint after this season. :(

I know.. He said he was told that, but didn't say who told him that. For all I know it could have been the kid that brings him coffee in the morning..

:covri:

From Brees to the offensive line to everyone else, everyone looked sluggish during those first three games... Ivory would have, too.

Last year, everyone was writing off PT for Mike Bell. This year, I guess Ivory is the flavor of the month. Who knows... If PT goes elsewhere, you all will eat your words..

Sounds to me like a motivational tactic by Payton more than anything else. No way PT doesn't play if he can. Saying he'd be a healthy scratch is idiotic.

What glazer said is ridiculous. The doctor thing could be true but to say Pierre would not play because of ivory seems super speculative. Ivory hasn't proved enough yet in terms of pass catching and pass blocking. In addition, the bus have the 31st ranked rush defense. Media driven drama.

Glazer seems to be friends with Payton so this probably has some truth to it.

He and Payton may not be friends much longer if he's saying s-tuff like this that Coach may have said that would have seemingly been off the record since no one else has reported on it.

Ivory and Bell are nothing alike bro
