Polymarkets has Mike McCarthy as odds on favorite to be Saints next head coach (4 Viewers)

We are closer to a 3-4 defense than people think.

DE: Bresee, Cam, Tanoh, Shepard
Nose: Saunders, Ridgeway, Boyd
OLB: Young, Grando, Turner

I think a 3-4 would help us more also with our players on defense getting older and slower

I'd throw Foskey on there at OLB and I think Turner is a FA unless we re-sign him, which he would probably be an inexpensive re-sign. With an off-season concentrated on building lower body strength and technique, I think Ridgeway might be a monster in the middle if developed correctly.

We clearly disagree. I'm talking about you saying I have some hidden agenda or mysterious narrative. That's not the same as honest debate, Widge.

I responded to you with a post stating why I have this opinion and you accused of me having some narrative. That's not debate, that's an attack.

I don't think asking you why you think hiring McCarthy is lazy is an attack and I think if you go back and look, you will see that's how this all started.

If you felt attached by things I said after that, then I apologize. It was not my intent to attack you. I was just having a discussion. But, I realize that I sometimes come off as aggressive which can be seen as an attack.

I think Vrabel talked to us virtually and maybe one other team, but he only visited NE in person.

I don't think anyone actually interviewed him. There were rumor that the Jets were interested and we were trying to set up an in person when New England hired him. Many think both of those things were just his agent putting pressure on New England. But, it's possible I missed a virtual interview.

Yeah I looked that up and found out that while he had an interview scheduled he wound up not doing it.

I think we can quickly move to a 3-4, but Granderson is not a good fit at OLB in a 3-4 and neither is Turner even if we keep him. But I also think there is a lot of value in the draft in 3-4 OLBs and 3-4 ILBs because few teams play the scheme in the NFL and many college DEs are under-sized to play DE in an NFL 4-3.

Here's the link...

First is McCarthy
Then Brady
Then distant long shots Kingsbury Nagy etc.
It’s looking more and more like he’s the only credible person that will even take the job.

Brady declined the interview , Kingbury doesn’t look like he’s falling over himself to even put forth the effort to interview , Kafke and Weaver are Rooney Rule interviews.

Rizzi will take the job but he’s probably better off in Denver. That leaves Rizzi and MCCarthy really I guess

If that's the situation then we got lucky that McCarthy became available. I'll take him over Carroll and Shottenheimer and maybe even over Glenn and Coen.

And frankly, it's a difficult job to rebuild and an experienced coach like McCarthy may be the only type of coach that can turn it around.

Worse case scenario is Rizzi which would pretty much so suck.
