Post-Draft Kevin White thoughts (1 Viewer)

White is in a (now or never) situation.
He was given ample time so hopefully he has a good enuf camp to get picked up by an AFC team

I think White has another chance with the new WR coach. I wouldn't write him off completely.

The fact that White is getting as many chances as he has, (after he has blown so many) is a testament to how much raw talent the guy has!

IMHO, Merritt is about to become the new White, and be the super talented guy that just needs to figure it out..

..if either one works, I’m happy.

White was learning a new position last year. They may give him time to learn the role and hopefully he worked with the jugs machine this offseason.

The new role us the Z, he'd only ever played the X so playing the Z was new to him.

As for Merritt, he's a UDFA with loads of talent. I still think they signed Merritt for a wideback "Deebo" role. Merritt is also a former 4* RB so he could be a Deebo role or covert to RB like Ty Montgomery did.

Then I thought about something: what can we get out of Kevin White?
I'm confident we can get a few more drops from him still.

Jokes aside, I think he had his chance. Our WR corps was pitiful last year and his stat line was 1 catch/38 yards. He has never scored an NFL touchdown. If he sees the field, we're in trouble.

Honestly they may be keeping him for special teams as a gunner. I remember him downing a couple of punts and being the first guy down there when he was on ST.

He’s no Andy Tanner.

Seriously though, if White were to make this roster I think it would be strictly as a special teams player who you might be able to plug in as a WR if injuries became an issue. The Saints have been known to let players make it as such and carry overloaded numbers at a position.

I had one of those deep thought moments regarding our WR corps. We were rougher than fresh sandpaper last season. And if you were like me, the drops, miscues, bad routes, etc. had you punching air like Cuba Gooding Jr in Boyz in the Hood. Fast forward today (a week after the 1st Round), and we have a level of speed that we haven't had in years with Olavé. Then I thought about something: what can we get out of Kevin White?

Now before you think I'm crazy or drunk (unfortunately I am not neither at the moment), just heard me out. I know that last season was an attempt to revive his career and help him shed the bust label. But we didn't have the personnel that we do now. And with the possible signing of Jarvis, does this actually help us out in the way we didn't anticipate? I mean, if he's on the field he will be facing either a nickel corner or at max, a safety?
