Potential Taysom replacement (1 Viewer)

Love Taysom and all he has done for the Saints. I don't think he will be back next year and quite honestly, I see him in a Broncos outfit. Ugh!!

With that, I think that the Saints need to move on from the Taysom type plays.

I believe that the league is going back to a running back oriented offense with a mobile QB. The Ravens and the Eagles are the blueprint for that. They both have continued success and are always in the playoff mix.
I'll take that bet, a $25 contribution to SR

I'd like to take Hill's 20-million-dollar a year contract and divide it between two starting caliber guards. Then we wouldn't need Hill because our OL might be able to actually run block consistently.

Been wanting to post this for a while, but i havent seen the “Prospects To Watch” thread pop up in a while. But when i saw this thread, i thought it would be the perfect place to put this dude’s name out there. If we’re looking for a guy to replace Taysom, THIS IS THE FREAKING GUY!

Army QB Bryson Daily. This dude is literally Taysom Hill. I know it may sound crazy, but from the build, to the measurables, Daily looks & plays exactly like Taysom. Know what, i’ll just let the film tell the story. Watch this…

That might be true. He would have been great at it and stayed in the NFL for a long time doing it.
Tebow's problem was his ego. He was so Hell bent on being qb that he wouldn't open himself up.to playing other positions.

Finally he got desperate enough to give TE a try in 2021, by then he was old.

Totally true. He didn't have the humility to be first. Taysom did.

Yessir. Only problem is he’s got to do his duty first. Two years I think.

Not necessarily. Dating back to Staubach, military academy players have gotten permission to play pro ball.
Even if not, it would be the a similar timeline as Taysom, serving his mission before returning to football.

I thought you were right until last spring when I found out different right here on SR. Apparently could get waivers — from 2018 — 2022.

In Dec. 2022, Congress passed the United States Armed Forces’ annual budget. The updated language prevents service academy athletes, such as those from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, from deferring their mandatory two years of active-duty service after graduation.

It reads, in part: “Agreement by a cadet or midshipman to play professional sport constitutes a breach of agreement to serve as an officer.” Once signed into law, the change would take place effective immediately. The bill was then passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate and was signed by President Joe Biden.

The thing that made Taysom dangerous was he could play multiple positions at a high level, thereby creating mismatches. Mismatches are what make a good offense work. We can always use chess pieces that can be moved to create mismatches. The credible ability to pass at any time is also dangerous.
No doubt it was about the mismatch. As another poster stated, however, it's not a position you chase. We should draft the best person at the traditional position and if the can be used in another role that's a bonus.

I watched that highlight reel & he certainly looked like Hill. The similarity in usage, but the thing that stood out was his elusiveness in a crowd & absolute joy in laying the wood while running! He also had better accuracy throwing. Can he run routes? It didn't show that. Will he be able to be a Tayson 2.0, who knows? Knowing he's headed to active duty, using a late rd pick for the future, could payoff in a couple years.
