Prayers up for Derek Carr [Mod Edit: Derek Carr is week to week with fractured left hand and concussion] (6 Viewers)

I mostly agree, but I would like to give Rattler at least one more start with an actual NFL OL and a couple of actual NFL receivers. Rattler was out there for 3 games with no interior OL and Tipton and nobody as his WRs once Means got hurt. I'd also like to see how he adjusts after having several weeks to evaluate how he played and what he needs to change.
I like Rattler and I feel he proved capable despite his limited array of weapons.

I think Haener deserves to be out there, mainly because the fact Rattler was given the initial start may lean toward who they see as a long-term investment of the two

In the spirit of competition, Haener deserves the opportunity.

I personally think the competition was over when Kubiak decided to go with Spencer over Jake earlier in the season when we were still relevant. I mean, maybe Kubiak didn’t make the final decision…. But I’m sure he had a ton of input on it. And it’s likely Spencer is a better fit for his system, and was part of the reason he was drafted when Kubiak was in the building. Jake was drafted in the Pete Carmichael era.

I think it’s clear that they see Spencer as the potential future starter with big upside, and see Jake as a guy that can come off the bench in a pinch and be your backup. At least…. That’s what I’ve seen so far.

1st Rizzi said it was DA's decision to go with SR. 2nd not so about the system Fresno St runs a very close system to what Kubiak does here

Do you not watch football wanting your team to win?
This part, I don’t hate Carr or anyone for that matter however I don’t like his brand of check down Charlie football. I want him no where near the Saints as long as I’m a fan. If he’s on the opposite sidelines then fine. I don’t care how hard he tries or how many babies he kisses on the way to being a politician. I want a qb that can get us to over this purgatory period, he’s not it.

Much different. A basketball player needs his off hand for dribbling, ball handling and his shot. A QB really only needs his off hand for getting the snap. That can be lessened a bit by staying in shotgun and not going under center. It's happened before.
Yeah I figured it was a bit different and was curious if the return time period was similar or not.

Thanks

I already said that it’s likely Kubiak didn’t make the ultimate decision…. But being he’s the guy that calls the plays, draws up the offensive game plans, and had a hand in drafting Spencer…. I’m sure he had a ton of input on the decision.

Also Jake played in more of a spread style offense in college. Almost all shotgun, and lots of 3 or more WR sets. Spencer played more pro style under center play action offense at SC. Watch the vids. I did.

And to be fair…. Spencer has played a lot of shotgun and spread too. Most college QBs do.

I don’t think Haener has a prayer of being the answer, but this would probably be the best move. If he does well, great. If not, Rattler comes in without the pressure of by passing the QB who was above him on the depth chart first go around.
Just want to give DSnfla another opportunity to facepalm this statement again. I see he seems to be missing after praising Jake and dissing Rattler all week.

I feel some Saints fans are too hard on Derek Carr. Fact is, that dude gives his all on that field. He literally gave his body up trying to pick up a critical first down. At first I was just hoping that he just landed hard on the football but upon seeing the replay you knew it was something worse. Hope he's ok.
Wish Carr a full & speedy recover as starting QB next year, but him sitting out from a recoverable injury is perfect for the development of Rattler. Invaluable playing time in a lost year. By the end of the year, we should know what we have in the Snake. If only he had a #1, #2, or #3 WR to throw to. He does have a healthy OL and Kendre Miller

Agree completely. But there's only one Snake.

It’s very doubtful that Carr can play with a cast on his hand. It’s a fumble waiting to happen. After Rattler’s performance Sunday, I feel a lot less unconfident in his ability.
