And I quote: Superbowl MVP Drew Brees covers up a lot of flaws, like the fact that the Loomis regime has no idea how to draft.
The review goes on to say that all of our best players come from the first rounds and our receivers are only good because of Drew. It also says that we haven't drafted anyone after round two that has given us any depth. It seems the article forgot about Nicks and Evans who were mid-round picks who may be the two best guard combo in the league. I will agree that Loomis has done a better job on the offensive players in the draft than the defensive, but I think the article is oddly harsh on a GM coming off a superbowl victory.

Who are these people you speak of?

He's so terrible! Well never win a Super Boel with Loomis as our GM!

/sarcasm

Evans, Nicks, Morstead, PT, Lance Moore, Colston. We've gotten some good players on the 2nd day and as UDFAs. Add that with good free agent pickups who don't break the bank and you have a superbowl. Whoever wrote that article doesn't know what theyre talking about.

No one outside of the organization truly knows what to attribute to Loomis versus someone else, but since Payton has been hc, our drafting has been better than average.

As for depth how about guys like Bushrod and Strief? PT wasn't an immediate starter. He was depth when he started.

He's right...Loomis is terrible.

This is just plain stupid. Don't these guys do any research before posting such an article?
Evans, Colston, Nicks, Morstead and so on. I would agree that we didn't get the expected results from our 1st rounders yet but the rest of our drafts were mostly productive.

Oh, how in the world did I forget Porter :D

I think they're missing the dynamic we have. With a collaborative group like ours, your GM doesn't have to be the most football knowledgeable person. His talent lies in his ability to manage the cap and trust his football people to lead him in the right direction with player selections. He takes over from there. And btw, that Lombardi trophy we own proves our model works.

I bet if we looked at back issues of whatever rag that is we would quickly see who the joke is.

I don't even waste my money on those publications.
