Pro football draft guide slams Mickey Loomis (1 Viewer)

Ok so Roman Harper, Sedrick Ellis Malcolm Jenkins and Tracy Porter were all terrible picks on the defensive side of the ball. Finding probowlers such as Jahri Evans and Roman harper, studs like reggie bush, Marques Colston, Carl Nicks, Robert Meachem, Jermon Bushrod, Thomas Morestead and Garret Hartley, depth with Usama Young, Chip Vaughn, Adrain Arrington, Supplemental draft players as well with Lance Moore and Pierre Thomas. And to top it off, using draft picks for Vilma, Shockey, David Thomas and Heath Evans are enough these days to say you are not cutting it as a GM, esepcially if you want your teamt to get to the superbowl.

Cant say I trust this guy to just let him go to free agency to pick up players (Drew Brees, Sean Payton, Gregg Williams, Shanle, Fujita, Darren Sharper, Jabari Greer, Anthony Hargrove, Bobby McCray, Randall Gay, Mike Bell, Jonathan Goodwin)!

Yeah, Loomis sucks at drafting...
Bush
Harper
Porter
Meachem
Colston
Evans
Nicks
Bushrod
Strief
Ellis
Brown
Stinchcomb
Will Smith
Henderson
Karney
Young
Morstead

How many are NFL starters? How many are Pro-bowlers?

I doubt many NFL GM's have a better 5 year record than Loomis does.

Sorry no link it was a printed draft guide called pro football draft guide, not pro football weekly just pro football

in 3 years we selected Evans, Nicks, Bushrod, Strief all 4th round or later, he's done a great job finding OLine talent. His only miss was Alleman who seems to have caught on well enough for other teams. As much heat as the front office got for trading up to take Morstead in the 5th round, that turned out to be a great decision. Colston has to be one of the best 7th round picks of the decade, and not to mention UDFA such as PT and Lance Moore. they certainly arent clueless at the front office, you dont get to be superbowl champions without knowing what you are doing.

Articles aren't about substance anymore....It's about who can get the biggest rise out of their audience in hope of getting their name in the spotlight.

And I quote: Superbowl MVP Drew Brees covers up a lot of flaws, like the fact that the Loomis regime has no idea how to draft.
The review goes on to say that all of our best players come from the first rounds and are receivers are only good because of Drew. It also says that we haven't drafted anyone after round two that has given us any depth. It seems the article forgot about Nicks and Evans who were mid-round picks who may be the two best guard combo in the league. I will agree that Loomis has done a better job on the offensive players in the draft than the defensive, but I think the article is oddly harsh on a GM coming off a superbowl victory.

These people have to have controversial to talk or write about. If everything was all rosy everywhere, they would soon lose listeners or subscribers.

Yeah... targeting Ellis (instead of Dorsey) was a dumb move.

And who ever heard of trading UP to get a stupid punter (Morstead)?

Colston was almost Mr. Irrelevant, so why did they even bother?

Meachem... that guy should have NEVER been drafted.

Nicks & Jahri Evans? Bust is written all over them.

/sarcasm

 :grumpy: :jpshakehead: :covri:

:gosaints:

If it is the same publication I bought last year, and I believe it is, it is the worst commentary in a "draft guide" I have ever seen. Unless I miss my guess, the owner/publisher/head writer is a Giants fan. You know, the kind that think they only play real football in the NFC East and AFC East.

Sounds to me like an incredibly unintentional compliment to Brees

I'll take it (even though Loomis is one of the best GMs in the biz)

Maybe he is a Vikings fan ?
