Pro football draft guide slams Mickey Loomis (1 Viewer)

thats why guys like this are writing about the NFL and not working in the NFL

If it's a magazine it could be a scan and pdf/jpg/gif/etc.. If that's the case then google may not find it as easily.
That said. Loomis/Payton drafts still here...
Bush, Harper, Evans, Colston, Meach, Big Sed, POrter, Nicks, Jenkins, Morestead.
Didn't he draft Will Smith? What about Dev & J. Brown?
Traded for Shanle--4yr starter
Didnt' he trade for Vilma, Shockey, Goodwin, Faine, H.Thomas, Simaneau (all 2 year starters), Copper, & D. Thomas (former 3rd rd pick we got for a 7th)
FA's: Brees, Fujita, (4yr starters) Hartley, Sharper, Roby, Hargrove, Patton, H. Evans
UFA's: P. Thomas, Moore, Bell

Please correct me if I'm wrong!!!

All these guys were on the 06 team, the 09 team, or both. Nice job Mick. Party w/ the Lombardi!

Of all the people this writer could omit how could he forget the LEGEND KILLER?

It's baseless comments like this from the media that just kill me. Loomis is just fine on draft day. Hopefully Arnoux and Vaughn turn into further proof of this.

I've read this publication before. It comes out every year before the draft, goes through where each time picks, their needs, etc. and has write ups and preliminary projections for where players are supposed to go.
I used to pick one up every year while traveling and read them on the plane. I haven't seen this years since I haven't been traveling for work this year.

All that being said - that statement is moronic and borders on criminally insane.

Well Loomis won a SB...
But i think his drafts weren't that great, and i said this in the past.
The year we drafted Colston, we picked another WR before picking Colston.
I think he just lucky.
And then we drafted Pittman over Thomas.
I'm not so sure Loomis is a great dafter....just lucky.

Then again, you just said that Fujita was not too bright for taking a $14 million deal.

Yeah he is bad. He stinks as a GM. If I were another team I'd never consider hiring Loomis away from the saints!! Wink wink!!!!!

No one outside of the organization truly knows what to attribute to Loomis versus someone else, but since Payton has been hc, our drafting has been better than average.

Maybe that's because Payton coaches up the draft choices Loomis makes better than our previous coaching staffs.

Well, Fugita is gone....soon Sharper will follow...teams do have needs, and they're willing to pay big bucks for players who can help them.

Then the battle will rage for PT.....today, I'm 100% sure the Saints FO will not overpay for anybody! I expect PT to be snached away soon also....

We stay pat......and that will show up next season, when we will have to rely on unproven rookies....

maybe they want Josh Bullocks back?!......he would work for food only! Loomis could save a ton with him!

It's kind of funny that the article would mention something like this. Correct me if i'm wrong, but you're best players should come from your 1st and 2nd round picks right? After that you're looking for depth and to hopefully stumble upon a gem like Jahri Evans or a Marques Colston. I Believe Loomis and SP have done a great job drafting, but I just used this as an excuse to do a little research. :ezbill:

So the article states that our best players come out of the 1st round and 2nd, our WRs are better because of Brees, and we hardly get much depth from rounds 3-7.

So if we omit our 1st rounders: Malcolm Jenkins, Sedrick Ellis, Robert Meachem, Reggie Bush, Jammal Brown, Will Smith, Johnathan Sullivan(fail), Charles Grant, and Donte Stallworth.

Then we omit our 2nd rounders: Tracy Porter, Roman Harper, Josh Bullocks(lol), Devery Henderson, Courtney Watson(fail), Jonathan Stinchcomb, and LeCharles Bentley.

bolds are people still on the team.
In 2009 rounds 3-7: Chip Vaughn, Stanley Arnoux, and Thomas Morstead
In 2008 rounds 3-7: DeMario Pressley, Carl Nicks, Taylor Melhaff, and Adrian Arrington.
In 2007 rounds 3-7: Usama Young, Andy Alleman, Antonio Pittman, Jermon Bushrod, David Jones, and Marvin Mitchell.
In 2006 rounds 3-7: Jahri Evans, Rob Ninkovich, Mike Hass, Josh Lay, Zach Strief, and Marques Colston.
In 2005 rounds 3-7: Alfred Fincher, Chase Lyman, Adrian McPherson, Jason Jefferson, and Jimmy Verdon.
In 2004 rounds 3-7: Rodney Leisle, Mike Karney, and Colby Bockwoldt.
In 2003 rounds 3-7: Cie Grant, Montrae Holland, Melvin Williams, Kareem Kelly, and Talmer Gardner.
In 2002 rounds 3-7: James Allen, Keyuo Craver, Mel Mitchell, J.T. O'Sullivan, John Gilmore, Derrius Monroe.

So apparently with Payton as HC we've been getting a lot more quality depth and finding a lot more gems in the later rounds. I can't really name anyone that stands out before 2006 besides Mike Karney who we decided we could upgrade.

IMO, Loomis looks a lot better now that Sean Payton is here, but I'll leave the rest of the opinions on how well he has drafted to the rest of you.

I don't care who writes what article, the results since 2006 speaks for itself. In loomis I trust.

is it the draft magazine that is basically black and white? if so it is the worst of them. I usually stick with pro football weekly's draft magazine
