News QB Spencer Rattler is a strong candidate to start in Derek Carr’s absence, sources tell Garafolo and Rapoport (1 Viewer)

Rattler has a better ability to scramble, he has a better arm, and plays a lot more poised than Haener. We have seen this in pre season. Rattler was the clear cut better QB with worse players.

There is mostly never a perfect scenario to throw a rookie out there at QB. It’s trail by fire. Brady did just fine. Both our young guys will have their chances, but this is undoubtably fate telling this team that it’s time for Rattler.

As bad as this is, this could be the moment we see a new star being born over the next two weeks if Rattler lives up to his potential.

Rattlers ceiling is way higher and floor is same as Haeners so I would go with the higher upside coming off of a 3 game skid.

Two best things that can come out of this season:

1. Win big
2. See if Rattler has franchise QB potential

If we aren’t going to do the first (which I still think we have a chance to do if guys get healthy), then let’s roll over to number-2 and take some lumps with the long-term future in mind

DA will NOT start Rattler because he is afraid Rattler might just get in the game and electrify the Team and Fanbase because he has all the tools to compete and grow in this offensive scheme. Then, if he shocks everyone and start winning now he would have a tough decision to make when Carr is healthy enough to return because Carr is his "chosen" QB.

I know Jeff Duncan has been reporting on pro football for a long time, but he has some really braindead takes sometimes. This is one of them. Haener and Rattler are in the same situation unless he's suggesting we sign a veteran. The only guy that legit gives you a chance to win a game is Ryan Tannehill

Why would you go with a year 2 project or a year 1 project when the season is still young and a playoff spot is still attainable? The right answer at qb is Taysom.

I have to agree though, I think Haener made more sense as a backup if Carr goes out than Rattler.

However w/ a week to plan I’d maybe give Rattler a chance OR, due to seniority roll w/ Haener and if it gets bad throw Rattler in and then roll w/ him vs Denver too.

W/ that being said Rattler is the most equipped QB on the roster to handle the current state of the Oline after his experience at SC
He feels pressure in the pocket very naturally for that reason alone. What do we have to lose at this point
