Could QB Trey Lance be a long term option? [update: Chargers sign Trey Lance to 1-yr deal] (2 Viewers)

I don't recall facts having an expiry date.

You just keep on ignoring facts that don't agree with your take on things. And handing out clown emojis in a fit of pique. You gotta do you.
You’ve stated no facts despite calling them facts. And if the clown emoji fits a post, I tend to lay them where you found yours.

And for your reading pleasure, here is a SI article saying he was never a good fit for Shanahan.

Let's be accurate on a few things.

Lance was drafted because the team saw him as a *great* fit for Shanahan's offense, that was well documented.

He was given every opportunity to be 'the guy' and got outshone by a lowly draft pick, literally the lowliest possible. The fact that the Niners went with Mr Irrelevant proves that draft status played zero part in Lance's fall from grace. It's a meritocracy in the NFL.

And the NFL has proven time and again that if you get injured, they don't hold your spot for you. When you come back, you either earn it or you don't. He didn't.
I'm still happy to stand behind each of these statements.

Meanwhile Tom's opinion piece seems mostly concerned with demanding accountability for a bad draft choice and not much more than that. Not too surprising from a disappointed lifelong Niners fan (at the time of writing in 2023), but hardly dripping with objectivity.

And I will still be happy to clown you for saying your opinions are facts.

Lance and many other first round busts show how even professional talent evaluations are often wrong, the draft is a roll of the dice.

I didn't understand how the entire league would cut bait on a guy said to have so much potential, after only 143 passing attempts.

He must've looked REALLY bad because it seems nobody gave him an opportunity to develop.

Could have been worse, it could have been drafting Zach Wilson with the second pick in the same draft 🫣
It's worse the 49ers gave up a Ransom to draft him.

They are very lucky they got Purdy a year later

Always important to keep in mind that we are only exposed to the 143 attempts.

The teams themselves got to watch him stink it up on the practice field and possibly also in the meeting room, not understanding things fully.
