What Brees did at Purdue absolutely said "franchise QB potential" and he was a decidedly better college QB than Ewers. The ONLY reason Brees didn't get drafted near the top of the 1st round was his height, which at the time was believed to be an insurmountable barrier. Thanks to Brees, QB height is no longer viewed the same way. Still, he was the 2nd rated QB behind Vick, and there were only a few teams pegged as QB-needy in that draft. Sliding to the 32nd pick isn't any sort of confirmation that nobody thought he had franchise QB potential. Aaron Rodgers was viewed as a potential franchise QB, and many thought he would go 1st overall, but he slid to 25th. Same thing happened to Marino - great college career, possible 1st overall pick, slid to 27th. It happens.
I get what you are trying to say about Ewers, but Brees is a bad comparison. Brees was a star on an otherwise mediocre team at a historically bad football school. Ewers was a JAG on an otherwise loaded team at a historically decent football school. Apples and oranges.
I don't think it's fair to compare Drew to Ewers, either. Just say if Moore likes him, maybe there's more there than others think. At least, I hope.
