N/S Raiders are hiring Pete Carroll as their new head coach

Teams use these interviews as opportunities to learn about these coaches who they normally wouldn't have interaction with. They can reference these for future positions or have insight to what that coach will do in his next role.
My intuition tells me that Mike got a phone call during that last day with Dallas. Sure he also heard that Chicago was interested. But, to me, he seems like a smart guy, that wouldn't jump ship from Dallas for Chicago. Especially knowing that Ben Johnson made it clear he wanted to coach Chicago. So for Mike to basically fire himself, by leaving the negotiation table w/ Dallas, tells me he got word from a real serious player. A player that wouldve had to say: "Mike if you walk away from Dallas you are our guy 100%. We will go through some motions, but in the meantime, start arranging your staff. Its only a statement this strong that would give Mike the confidence to fire himself from Dallas. Dont forget all of the people he made friends with players and coaches. If he were fired he'd have to walk away. But he wasnt, he chose to walk away. If we hire Brady, then I couldn't be more wrong on this. But my gut tells me its been Mike since before he walked from Dallas

Hopefully with the GM that will give him what he needs to build a team and stay out of the way maybe he builds a respectable team pretty quickly!

Agreed. The FO is going through the process while MM is developing a plan and organizing his staff. He's also going to bring in his culture guys, all HCs do. I'd be curious what FAs are out there with ties to MM. One name to watch is Noah Brown who was developed under MM in Dallas. He's currently on Washington's IR, but he's a FA after the season. He's a Big X WR who does all the dirty work, but he very well could be a MM culture guy. His experience with Houston last year and Washington this year is a bonus.

one thing is a FACT. If MM was the head coach, Zack Baun, CJGJ, Hendrixson, Krull, would all be current Saints. Mike adjusts his scheme to the player not the player to the set-in-stone, scheme. So he'll draft pretty much BPA on every pick, then adjust his scheme to fit them.

that's very interesting, i cant wait until the search is final so we can all move onto other topics like players and staff. I've said this before, but i for sure think Mike starts Carr in 25. I think whoever coach we'd get, starts Carr in 25.

if Sean Payton left this year, and we still had a legit QB1, id be ok with Brady. @Rouxble ive been waiting for you to comment about that article that shows our cap space in 2026 at 60mill under. Suprised this isnt a huge thing. It means we;'re out of cap hell now!
Well, it’s obvious that whoever becomes our HC, he will be given a grace period. I’m almost positive that his performance will depend on our results, after the said HC gets his QB

Good hire for LV.
I don't see it as a long term venture but something that is more transitional. Carroll can come in and establish a culture along with constructing a solid roster.
They saw what Dan Quinn did in Washington and they were like "yeah, we want some of that. Let's call the OG." lol. This is 100% culture change and roster building. If they don't trade up, they will probably go for BPA at #6 (if Carter foolishly drops to 6, I see Pete Caroll taking wanting him) and build the trenches and defense, like he did in Seattle.

A real possibility we could see a Russell Wilson and Pete Carroll reunion in Vegas

I think the way they ended probably kills this. With the focus looking like changing the culture, I don't know if Pete Carroll brings in Russ to do that.
