Article Raiders shopping TE Michael Mayer. (5 Viewers)

No need to give Raiders a pick, just draft a rookie TE there are a few good options.

We need 2 TEs.

Mayer had a 6.44 grade on NFL.com when he came out, that would put him 3rd innthis draft class behind Warren and Loveland. The difference is Mayer is a complete TE whereas most guys in this draft are receiving TEs.

Trading for Mayer would allow us to get a better TE by using less draft capital.

Need more than 1 imo.

Agreed, and I actually would love to bring in 3 TE’s. The room is that bare imo.

Also better to shore up your needs the best you can before the draft so you aren’t reaching during the draft to fill holes on the roster.

There's a draft coming up that's fairly rich with TE talent. Unless the Saints hold a higher grade on Mayer than anyone available in April, I think there's pretty much zero reason to make a trade for this guy before draft day, and only when/if they determine he's better than who's left on the board.

The only other scenario that makes sense is if the Raiders are selling now for considerably less than he's worth, but that would be a) unlikely b) detrimental since it would increase competition from other teams willing to give up a slightly better package of picks.

Maybe he could be had for one of our two 3rd RD picks. Mayer’s got a ton of untapped talent. That dude’s a complete TE. I think he’d be instant O & a reliable possession receiver in Moore’s O.
A 3rd rounder? Nah, too high.

May be worth a late round pick but with so many good TE prospects in the draft and from what I've briefly researched he is average as a blocker?

It depends on how KM views the TE position I guess....

I'd trade them Carr even trade. I wouldn't do a deal for draft picks other than a 6th or 7th, or a 5th in 2026. With this year's tight end class, we could get a better tight end than Mayer in the 4th and 5th rounds that we could develop while on their rookie contract.

Infoman's gotta be foaming at the mouth hoping for this trade
@Infoman what say ya?

I just think we need 3 tight ends.

The Raiders traded up to take him at 35 two years ago. They could still use him as Bowers is split out a fair amount of the time. He was away from the team for a significant amount of time last year with a mental health a mental health issue.

I'm not sure you could do enough due diligence to warrant giving decent draft capital for him. A day 3 flier maybe but in that case, why wouldn't they just keep him?
