Rams trade for Dante Fowler (1 Viewer)

He's a legit outside pass rusher. And helps solve the biggest problem area on their team. Good trade for them.

We'll see.

He had 4 sacks in 2016.
He had 8 sacks in 2017 (which is starting to look like some type of lightening-in-a-bottle year for the Jags)
He has 2 sacks this year through 8 games which puts him on pace to once again have 4 sacks.
He's never earned the starting job in Jax. He got beat out by a rookie in 2016 (Yannick Ngakoue). He has been a back up/package player for 3 years.

He probably needs a change of scenery.

I understand the urgency on our part, but not so much on theirs.

Part of it is the nature of LA. The Rams are undefeated and the Packer fans made up a good portion of the home crowd. They can't afford to slide into mediocrity. Profootball will almost always play second fiddle there regardless of the teams record.

I'm totally fine with them getting richer at an already rich position and not improving their hole of a secondary. They were exposed last week and we'll blow it wide open this week. And they didn't do anything to bolster it.

And it plays into our strength. I have faith in Brees and the OL nullifying this addition

Armstead and ram shut down maybe the best DE duo in the league in griffin and hunter. Not worried about this move l, but it does in fact make them better since the edge was a weak spot.

Just before our game and I read earlier that Cooper Kupp may play this Sunday. Hope the Saints bring their A game, it's gonna be a dog fight.

He did come off a bad knee injury his first year. And he was suspended the first game of this year and from what I hear got into a fight with another teammate so he hasn't gotten on the field as much since Jax hasn't been winning or having leads like last year when he put up the sacks.

Rams always have the lead unlike Jax or they re winning big so all he will have to do is come on the field to rush the passer. And with Suh and Arnold pushing the pocket back, if he doesn't put up numbers now it'll never happen.Good gamble for them, they had nothing on the edge.

He has not played as much this year. Had 8 sacks last year and 5 passed defensed with 3 tackles for loss and 4 sacks his rookie year. Not #3 pick worthy, but not a bust.

That was also a defense with one of the best secondaries in the league. Big difference going to the Rams, who have a weaker secondary and sub-par coverage LBs that won't allow for many coverage sacks.

Edge rushers simply don't scare me. We've faced far, far better the past 7 games. Our OTs are just that good.

I was about to come here to say that they seem to be mortgaging the future a bit, but I guess we're guilty of the same.

Gonna be a dogfight in the NFC: Saints, Rams and Eagles are trying to win NOW
Difference is the clock is ticking. Our team has an elite QB at the twilight of his career. The Rams have a young pretty good QB. They seem to be trying to strike now because they’ll need to offload talent really soon.

I understand the urgency on our part, but not so much on theirs.

They are trying to fill their stadium with fans to justify $2 billion price tag. With Packers fans seemingly outnumbering Rams fans last Sunday, I suspect there is some concern that the fans will not come out to support the Rams - especially if they don't win right away.

I don't think it's the same. We traded picks for guys that will be here for a while. Davenport/Apple, etc...these guys ARE the future and are under contract for several more seasons. We have a plan to pay our guys going forward as well.

The Rams are trading picks away for half season rentals and will have no possibility of keeping all these big name players they've brought in after 2019. They've also stacked themselves with huge contracts for skill position players while still having many others needing to get paid soon. They are all in for this season and next with Goff still making peanuts.
