New Orleans Saints

The Saints are still in the thick of the NFC South race, with a chance to get back to even against the Buccaneers on the road Sunday. But in Year 2, at 7-8, there will be at least questions about the status of head coach Dennis Allen.
Barring some sort of late-season debacle, there shouldn't be many.

Saints owner Gayle Benson and general manager Mickey Loomis have supported Allen all the way through, and that hasn't changed during a season that began with a suspension of their best offensive player Alvin Kamara, included a variety of injuries to starting quarterback Derek Carr, and featured countless variations to the offensive line and front-seven looks due to more injuries.
Pending their annual round of restructures, the Saints lead the NFL with roughly $312 million in cap commitments on the books for 2024. An older, expensive roster can make for challenges, and one would think next year's version would feature some younger players with a little more speed, especially off the edge on defense. But Allen and his staff have held it together to give them a shot late.

There may be changes coming to New Orleans, though. The offensive side of the ball will get a thorough examination following 2023. But those decisions for Allen and the Saints will be made in the coming months, with all indications as of now that he'll get a third season.

This is the new standard for your New Orleans Saints. It only took two years for DA to torch what Sean/Drew built to the ground, and our management believes he’s earned another shot despite not reaching a single goal and failing to win the worst division in football while playing the leagues easiest schedule. Dark times ahead.

Injuries? Hasn't our front seven been incredibly healthy minus Turner which no one was surprised about? O-line too, the only shuffling for most of the season was due to Penning not being NFL ready. Heck this team has been pretty healthy for the most part.

They're just looking for any excuse to keep him.

It really hasn’t- it’s been mediocre and sometimes for fans that’s worse

Mediocre with the amount of talent on this roster, and how bad this division has been for the last 2 years, is absolutely a debacle. It was free last year, it was even more free this year.

So is the new Saints standard that we must be 100% healthy or it's fine to stink?

As injuries go, we haven't had it that bad this year. We lost a starting CB and a second WR. Other than that, we were mostly healthy the entire season with a few bumps and bruises the last few weeks, but we had already cemented our suck by the time the injuries piled up.

Other teams have had far worse injury woes than us and performed better against tougher schedules.

The worst possible conclusion would be if things break lucky for DA next year. We win this awful division, get bounced in the wild card round, and DA signs an extension because he returned us to the playoffs. Sign everyone over 35 with 3 void years on all of their contracts. THE WINDOW IS STILL OPEN, RIGHT!!! Right!?!??

“Holding it together” There’s something to print on a t-shirt and get hyped about.

Say it fast and then let if fade away as if it was a vision into the past/future. Hold it together, Hold it togeth, Hold it tog, Hold tog, HOLTOG. That's it HOLTOG and then have T-Shirts with HOLTOG and a HOT DOG in the bun on the T-Shirt.

Is it possible that this is part of recruiting/negotiating strategy?
Why broadcast that you have holes to fill?
I do think that the strongest theory is that DA was always going to be the bridge used to transition out of SP/Drew/cap hell into???
BUT, if someone presents themselves, ML probably jumps on it
It seemingly happened last year with PC, they were working behind the scenes to bring in another OC but that fell through so they stuck with Pete

Many fans disagree, but ML clearly does not see this time as change for change’s sake/by any means necessary

No it’s not
This is 3 flat tires at the same time, not the Hindenburg
