If it weren’t for Taysom Hill, the New Orleans Saints might not have had much to feel good about after a 19-17 preseason win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Hill engineered a pair of second-half touchdown drives, another fourth-quarter drive that set up a go-ahead field goal with 1:05 to play and led New Orleans in both rushing (53) and passing (136) yardage. That was enough to make the Saints a winner in a game where they otherwise did not play well for long stretches.
The Saints did not score their first touchdown until late in the third quarter, when Hill stepped up into a perfectly formed pocket and found a wide-open Austin Carr for a 27-yard scoring strike. Before that drive, the Saints managed one drive that ended in a field goal, five drives that ended in punts and a pair that ended in turnovers. ...
