(Rare Video) Sean Payton playing QB against the Saints (1 Viewer)

That wasn't Sam Mills... It was someone wearing his number.

This.

That was the strike year and SP was a "scab"... as you can see a couple of the Dome Patrollers had "crossed the line", so SP and his scabby offense vs part of the best defense in the league at the time... wasn't gonna come out well for SP.

and this.

Was Antonio Gibson a "scab," or did the Saints pick him up as a replacement player? Didn't Sam Mills "cross the line" as well.

It also says on nfl.com that Mills played 12 games in 87. I think he crossed the line.

They don't have tackle stats that far back though so who knows.

I remember that game very well. I watched it with my dad in the Baton Rouge hospital. My dad died the next day. Watching the Saints beat the bears was the last thing we ever did together.

Wow, brings life into perspective. Somehow I know you remember it like yesterday.

He had his cheat sheets even back then! You could tell it wasnt laminated though!

where are the good plays? it says 19 to 17, he had to have some decent plays

so now i understand our bad defense, payton was set on revenge bc our Defense back then made him look silly so in return he made our Defense look silly

looked like my favorite coach was throwing a deflated ball

i mean SP was tossing bricks

The only thing worse than Payton's QB skills, is realizing that Gibbs' defense was worse than the Saints scab defense.

That was some great footage. Thanks Zorro 37.

Sean Payton was a replacement! LOL! Those were some ugly lame ducks he was tossing up there.

:no::covermyeyes::hihi:

In 1987, due to the players strike, many no name 'replacements' had a dream come true when they were briefly on an NFL roster.

One of those was none other than Coach Payton, who played 3 games with the Bears as a QB. The last of those was against our own Saints. Watch the Saints defense beat down on him in this pretty rare video I hoaked up on TYT.

</P>Some things NEVER change...The Saints are still playing all of their games IN CHICAGO, The screen pass still KILLS the Saints, HORRIBLE pass interference calls are still made against the Saints DBs....GEEZ, its like watching a Saints game today...Cept with a MUCH better Pass Rush...LOL

You can count on one hand the Saints QBs that were the same or better than Fourcade. He was a good QB. He still has a cannon for an arm too.

We got the best of both worlds. We had Fourcade as a qb and Payton as a coach. You wouldn't want it the other way around. I still remember that game in the snow against the Bills. Fourcade was amazing.

Very cool Zorro. :)

I wonder if Sean watches Drew Brees and just wishes he had Drew's physical skills when he was QB? You know that Sean was always pretty smart, but just didn't have the physical tools that Brees and Manning and Brady have.

LOL.........Great find. Payton's play looked as if someone from S.R. was plugged into an NFL game as starting QB !!! :)
