Really surprised the Saints are only bringing in one RB to push the guys already on the roster. AK is a stud but we still don't know if we will be without him to start the season. Love MI ,he can't handle the Starting role alone anymore. TJ, not sold on him as a RB3.
Do we think the front office has an eye on a vet free agent?

I do not think Loomis is done shaping the offensive side of the ball. RB was not even addressed and Kamara will most likely miss time and Ingram is at the backend of his career and only bringing in Abrams make you feel like he was hand picked but I'm sure the Saints are still looking to address this position along with WR.

We missed out on Fournette, R. Jones and Mack when FA began. They would’ve upgraded RB depth.

All the free agent RBs still available now are 30+ or close to 30 with mileage and injury history. Not much difference in talent than Josh Adams and Abram Smith imo, who haven’t been used much and got a chance yet.

Didn't Fournette sign for like $10 million AAV? I don't think you can pay that to your backup RB.

And Sony Michel and Malcolm Brown are still available. They aren't great, but both have talent and have produced at times.

In addition to Michel and Brown, Philip Lyndsay, Darrel Williams, and a few others could provide some depth, at least in TC.

Michel’s money demands must be different than the team’s. Probably still sees himself as a 1b instead of just depth. He can’t expect much $ or carries with Ingram still here but he’d be good depth for AK’s suspension. A one year deal is what we’d give any available RB and they’re only really needed for those 4-6 games. Ingram will still be effective as a timeshare back in his last season.

David Johnson would be nice for this offense if he wasn't always hurt.

Yeah, maybe then can get Michel on a fairly cheap one year deal and then we can see where we are next year in terms of drafting a backup or whether Jones, Jr., Smith or one of the other young guys steps up.

We have AK, Ingram, Jones, Washington, & Smith.

I think we run with that in camp to see if Jones improves & see if we hit on Smith.

Once we find out AK’s punishment then we possibly look to add a vet unless Jones & Smith look good enough to roll with Ingram which is possible.

That would be a pretty major gamble since Jones and Washington have never shown much in the regular season. But, it's possible that the team is more confident in Jones, Jr., Washington, and Jones than I am. I mean, I like Ingram, but even if we didn't run the risk of losing Kamara for a big chunk of next season, I would like an upgrade over Ingram. He's getting old and isn't quite as quick as he once was.

Problem is that we may not know anything about Kamra's status until camp or even into the season. So, we either get a vet RB now or have to just roll with what we have.

I’m guessing after rookie camp, they’ll have a better idea where they stand at the position. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up picking up someone towards the end of preseason when cuts are made.

We may be without AK for the better part of a year. I think so jail time is in the offing.

After Kamara, who will likely miss a chunk of time, I view the group as a weak spot for sure. I’d really hoped we’d get a bruiser in the draft. Maybe that Smith guy will do well in a limited role, but I am not super comfortable. Maybe we pick up someone who gets cut later. I’m sure we’ll have our eyes open.
