Red Dead Redemption (2 Viewers)

Right this is getting on my wick. Ive been Jack for quite a while now & done a good few missions with him. The Mexican hooker is dead & ive cleared so may places of bandits & ne'er do wells that im getting fed up. Does a prompt appear to tell you where to go to finish this or what? I dont want to be riding round the whole lands over & over. This has been well over an hour at this stage. Ive also sorted the english guy out with the opium etc etc.

As Jack, ride into Blackwater and hit the train station, there is a federal agent there. If I remember right, he will have the stranger icon above his head. He'll tell ya where to head next.

It's not a long quest, he'll direct you to a small 'vacation house' southeast of Armadillo, where that person will give you the location of the final confrontation along the river in Mexico. After that, listen to the song. It's a nifty one (I think, anyway).

I bought this pre-owned over the weekend. I've only just got into Mexico.

I like the storyline, visuals, etc. My main complaint is that the core gameplay is getting a bit monotonous. The weapons really don't have much of a different feel to them at all. Because of the auto-aiming, the largely one hit, one kill nature of shootouts, and the fact that weapons are unrealistically accurate even at long range, there's really not much difference between a pistol, shotgun and rifle. I've also really haven't had much reason to go into dead-eye except to act as a quasi-"pause" feature, which makes the action a bit awkward. And in some sense-overkill. Shoot this guy. Dead-eye (pause). Shoot other guy. Dead-eye. Shoot the third guy. What they should have done was make dead-eye available only for pistols.

I'd wish there was more fist action. Whenever I try to settle something non-lethal, like with a lasso or fists, the other guy always pulls out a pistol, and the lasso almost never works (except on bounty targets)

And, this more of a general complaint about video games in general, but the gameplay seems dumbed-down. I wish you would have to figure things out for yourself, maybe with a few hints here or there, rather than have everything spoon-fed to you. Where's the puzzles, or the hidden items/areas (that don't invovle "look in every container in every abandoned house in Tumbleweed") Not that there's much need for those anyway - there's not much need to even do side missions. They don't really make your character more powerful or have different abilities, or different plot arcs, etc.

So far I'd give it 3/5.
