Report: Patriots could have interest in making Aaron Glenn their defensive coordinator (2 Viewers)

This would be a significant loss. Sure hope we can keep him for another year.

Nothing against Harper, but I'd prefer to bring in someone who is established in the coaching department.
Yeah I share that hesitation too. We don't need a setback for sure. I just always thought of Harper as being a coach after his playing days. Seems like a natural, but what do I really know. Maybe it was the white hair that made him look like a coach. I kid.

Torn on this one. I’d love for Glenn to move up and continue a successful coaching career. He deserves it. However, as a Saints fan I really don’t want to lose him and the excellent job he has done

Doesn't the team have right of refusal? I seem to recall the Saints wanted someone from the 49rs one season and they refused to let him be interviewed.

If Dennis Allen is taken away from Saints for a HC position next off season, it would be a great transition to have Glenn as the DC.

Lame. People often wonder how the pats have the best dynasty going. Easy, their coaches don't leave until AFTER they win a super bowl. They then reload with the best candidates out there. We go to the playoffs for the first time in four years and already talk of us losing coaches. Doesn't compute.

Yes they can technically. Usually teams deny request if it is a lateral move for the same job. But if it is a promotion from their current one, teams usually grant it because it is a better opportunity. It is unethical and probably frown upon if teams don't allow it.

Success brings attention. And attention can mean departures.

There’s a chance New Orleans could be dealing with one of those in the near future. The NFL Network reported on Sunday that the New England Patriots could be interesting in making Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn their defensive coordinator if Matt Patricia departs to become the head coach of the Detroit Lions.

The Patriots are also considering their current linebackers coach, Brian Flores, for the position. Flores is considered the favorite for the position but he is under consideration to become the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

Ireland brought in Glenn, just like he brought in Cameron Wake, and discovered Jonathan Martin...oh wait. I trust that if Aaron leaves we will soon find a more than capable assistant.
Can we move Nolan to DB coach and hire Jack Del Rio to coach linebackers.

Actually Belicheck routinely denies teams the right to interview his assistants. That’s why he loses so few and usually they only interview when their contracts are up. He’s the worst in the nfl at doing that. Most coaches will willingly let their assistants interview for any move that isn’t lateral as it creates a network for them and it also allows them to recruit up and coming coaches as they know it can be a stepping stone.
