Saw him in Lafayette about 20 years ago. One of my wife and I's first dates. While I didn't often agree with him on some of the things he said I always respected that he always spoke his mind without worrying about what anyone thought.

Wow. I didn't listen to any of his stuff post-2005 or so, but he had some really good country songs. in the 90's and early 2000's. Sad to read this.

I liked a few of his songs. Reminded me of good times growing up and college days. I was shocked to hear he had cancer and admit I only found this out this past year. The world will take a massive step forward if this terrible disease is ever cured.
