According to Cosell, the QB's that get sacked a lot in college get sacked a lot in the Pros.
Definitely worth the watch. It starts around 2:50 ish.

Same thought, I tried to shrink the data and did more of a comparison w/ him and Caleb, while adding a little context. It's well known his OL at SC wasn't great and neither were his receiving options. Looking at just his Oklahoma data those #'s shrink considerably.I was curious how Carr, Rattler and Haener college sacks compared to 2025. Rattler and Haener have a small sample size. Here are the numbers:
Carr
College 58 sacks on 1630 attempts for a 3.56% sack rate
2025 08 sacks on 279 attempts for a 2.87% sack rate.
Rattler
College 106 sacks on 1313 attempts for 8.07% sack rate
2025 22 sacks on 228 attempts for a 9.65% sack rate
Haener
College 76 sacks on 1085 attempts for a 7.00% sack rate
2025 6 sacks on 39 attempts for 15.38% sack rate
Rattler with OK split out from SCSame thought, I tried to shrink the data and did more of a comparison w/ him and Caleb, while adding a little context. It's well known his OL at SC wasn't great and neither were his receiving options. Looking at just his Oklahoma data those #'s shrink considerably.
Rattler with OK split out from SC
OK 35 sacks on 515 attempts for a 6.80% sack rate
SC 71 sacks on 798 attempts for a 8.90% sack rate
His sack totals were lower at OK, but so were his attempts. He had about a 30% lower sack rate at OK, but he still had almost double the sack rate that Carr did in college.
Cosell said that several teams have conducted statistical studies ranging over a 25 year period and they found that QB's who get sacked at a higher rate in college also get sacked at a higher rate in the pros. So the work has already been done.Interesting. Have you considered looking at the top 10 performing QB's in the NFL and comparing it to their college years?
Then run those same numbers on this draft's QB class?
Would be extremely interesting to see. I just don't have the time
Seems like Rattler's OU years might still be high, but we won't know without a larger sample size.

It took me about an hour to find the stats for Carr, Rattler and Haener and then plug them into a spreadsheet. The college splits for Rattler was quicker, because I just had to edit the spreadsheet real quick. I don't have to time to do what you mentioned. Underhill seems to be a stat geek and he gets paid to be one, so maybe send him a note. I mean that sincerely and respectfully.
Some people say Carr isn't a good QB, so I would think that it would be expected that the good QB's have a lower sack rate than Carr. That might be a little bit of measuring stick.
This is one of those things that isn't common knowledge to fans, but it is to the teams and it will effect how they grade and rank the QB's. Rattler's high sack rate
My curiosity got the best of me so I did a few more players for comparison in some additional posts.Yup, I get it. Makes sense. Can't blame you for having responsibilities away from the saints forum. Kuddos for taking what time you already have on it, which is far more then I would've.
