Rumor: Les Miles/Tommy Tubberville (1 Viewer)

I wouldn't mind Tedford from Cal. Kind of follows the blueprint LSU used in hiring Saban and Miles (HC of the 2nd best program in a state). Would be interesting to see what kind of numbers he'd get out of Perrilloux.

I disagree. DiNardo did not bring in half the talent at LSU that Zook brought to Florida, but that's fine I knew it would not be a popular name.
Personally I like Zook. He doesn't get enough credit for UF's success when Florida was there. Spurrier would have lost out on a lot of talent had Zook not been there. He did not get a fair shake as Head Coach, but that's what happens when you replace a legend.

DiNardo didn't bring as much talent, but he brought a lot. He is the guy that bagan what Saban finished as far as recruiting in Louisiana is concerned and it started with Kevin Faulk. Neither Zook nor DiNardo were known for their coaching, but rather for their recruiting and that's the comparison I was attempting to make.

I will, however, pose the same question to you. Who else do you think it out there that is a LIKELY candidate for LSU. Again, remember, fans were saying Miles was in over his head before he even coached his first game.
We discussed this over on BB.com. My first choice would be Pat Hill from Fresno State, but I doubt he's going anywhere with his son playing ball for him. Still, who would have placed Butch Davis at UNC? Second would be Gary Patterson of TCU. Greg Schiano of Rutgers would be a good candidate as well and I would not be opposed to promoting either Crowton or Pellini.

It is not like, again if Miles leaves, you are going to get a Carrol or a Brown. Maybe Rich R from UWV? I doubt it. He has a cushie job without SEC expectation attached to it.
I would love Rodriguez, but I doubt he'd leave his Alma Mater. You can keep Mack Brown; That's a step backwards. Tommy Tuberville has more class than Pete Carroll.

MLU, please dont tell me that you have that low of an estimate of Tuberville. I mean for God's sake the man has brought a winning tradition back to Auburn and he has made us a winner again. He has been for the most part a winner at Ole Miss and At Auburn, I think some poeple have an unreasonable and irrational hatred for him and look to say he is overrated once the moment he has a down year. I mean damn it he lost a lot of people to graduation and he is having a down year.
I have always had a low opinion of Tuberville. He's taken advantage of 'Bama's horrible coaching and recruiting staff over the past few years and filled the vaccuum nicely. Talent abounds in Mississippi and when your choice is LSU coached by Gerry DiNardo, Ole Miss or a sliding Miss State, Ole Miss doesn't seem that bad especially when recruits meander through the Grove on a Saturday and peruse over the fine selection of Sorority girls there. Tuberville has his pedigree, but lacks enough class for me to care for his deficiencies in managing games.

What do you people expect of him, seriously? do you think he can be 13-0 every season. Is that how cuthroat some fans expectations are of him? I think Tuberville is a good coach with or without who the coach is at Alabama. He has made the competition go out and get better. Saying its all because of one man and that man is Shula is ridiculous and laughable IMHO.
Yes. 13-0 every year, just like every other SEC fanbase. Unrealistic? Yes, but like my mom used to say "If you can't take the pressure, go coach in the WAC".

I cringe at that thought becuase it is so not unlike the man and what he has accomplished. And yes I do think some Auburn fans have been spoiled by the success he has brought.
What has he accomplished? A People's Choice Award for a Nat'l Championship? Five in a row against Alabama during their worst decade ever?

LSU isn't gonna take a coach that was let go by a rival SEC team. I think we got a little more respect for ourselves than that. Hopefully Miles will stay, but at least if he does leave its for the right reasons

I highly doubt LSU would go after Tuberville, especially considering his down year.

LSU is talking to his agent. I'm not entirely sure how significant that is. It seems to me that agents and other schools would be in contact a lot more then we fans generally assume. The person I heard it from said Tubberville is serious about it and considers it a real possibility. All of this however is probably dependent on Les Miles and I have no insight into his situation other then his agent is speaking to Michigan.

For all I know, it could all be posturing, i.e. Les Miles looking for a better deal from LSU and more job secruity (he was just about "on the hot seat" prior to the Notre Dame stomping and a loss to Alabama this year would put him right back there) and LSU playing hardball right back by posturing that they are ready to move on if he threatens to walk. No idea. Again I have no first hand contact with these people so I can't really dig deeper. I get what comes to me and what has come to me is-
Les Miles' agent is talking to Michigan and, as a consquence, LSU and Tubberville's agent are talking too.

I am a big tedford fan also, but we would have to keep Pellini as D-coordinator. But having Crowten and tedford would be interesting.

Schiano turned down the head coaching job at Miami, which is at least an equal program to, if not better than, LSU. It's also his alma mater.

Maybe you can talk Bellicheck into coming to LSU! OMGLOL!!!!!

LSU fans. :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:
