Rumor: Saints are interested in Denver LB Ian Gold (1 Viewer)

Simoneau - 70 tackles 2 sacks in '07
Gold - 72 tackles 2 sacks in '07

He's not very productive. His best year was 6 years ago with 100 tackles and 6.5 sacks.

PASS. We really are trying to find a fit. That's good that we continue to look.

As a LB the guy can fly...he was with Tampa for a season and stood out IMO....would like to get him back..

MLBs get more tackles than WLBs and Gold missed 2 games (essentially 3, as he was hurt early in week 15). He'd be up to 90+ tackles had he played the whole season.

A decent, if unspectacular, player. They should just wait until he gets cut; Denver's not going to keep him. Jamie Winborn played well enough in his absence to make Gold expendable.

This is the second time that the Saints have shown interest in Ian Gold. The first time he signed with Tampa. He does have injury issues, but it hasn't been enough for him to miss games. He just stays nicked up a lot and it dampens his performance.

Weren't we interested in this guy back in 2003?

free agency hasn't even started yet. This is nothing but a rumor, and if true, they are exploring all of their available options prior to March 1. If anything, Saints fans should be pleased that they are actively attempting to upgrade the defense. That's the only trend I see so far.

Ian Gold is nice... considered one of the fastes LBs in the league. He had one season that he was "injured"... other than that he's solid. I'd rather him than Shanle in the weakside.
