Saints: 21 penalties for 244 yards in eight quarters (1 Viewer)

this isn't just a last 2 weeks development.... let's go back to the bye week

vs. ATL (NO - 12/90; ATL - 7/48)
@ TB (NO - 9/76; TB - 7/55)

that said... from last night's game... that block in the back penalty on the 3rd Qtr kickoff return was bogus AF... the block by Robertson was initiated on the front side and he shoved on the top of the defender's shoulder

and that penalty cost us 40+ yards

edit: we really need to dive deeper into this stat...

how many of these penalties gave our opponent an auto 1st down after a failed 3rd or 4th down play?

How many either gave our opponent or cost us 15+ yards (either direct or hidden)

The Refs awarded the Falcons 5 first downs due to penalties.
The Refs awarded the Saints 0 first downs due to penalties.

Virtually the same #'s of each of our last 4 games.

Yes, that's been driving me crazy. I mentioned it last year in our loss to them, it was the same thing. They were awarded several first downs by penalty but we got zero. It definitely affected the game.

It's like if the police pulled people over for speeding and ticketed them and you find that these people were indeed speeding. So, initially you say then there is no complaint but THEN you find out they were only ticketing Asian females. Now, you think that can't be right. Something is off. We are committing SOME of these penalties but so are other teams YET we are the only ones being punished in our games.
