Saints and Alvin Kamara agree to extension (80 Viewers)

I have no idea if it’s a good use of $ or not, nor do I know the details of the contract. All I do know is that AK41, through his unrelenting work ethic, unique personality, magic on the field, and loyalty to this city, has become my favorite and most appreciated Saints ever not named Drew Brees. If there is any player I don’t mind this organization giving a big contract to too late in his career it Kamara bc his contribution isn’t just something measurable on the field; he contributes to the heart of the team and it’s connection to the fans.

He embodies what is mean to be from this city in every way I can think of. He’s as real as it gets and seems to have a genuine connection to this city with his fingers on the pulse of its people. He never quits, or complains, or stops giving it his all, and if he will be on this roster until the end of the 2026 season, I cannot imagine anyone better to help with the transition of the old regime to the new. I wouldn’t fault him at all for wanting to go elsewhere, but he’s publicly stated he has no desire to play anywhere else simply bc of his connection to this place and its people. He will make sure that the new guys not only hear about what this team means to this region, but he will make sure that they understand and feel the importance of how this team and its relationship to the city is not like any other.

This move is just ensuring that he’s one step closer to retiring a Saint and going down as the best RB in the history of this organization, and I’m so happy I don’t have to think about seeing him wear another teams uniform (for now at least). If there’s anyone that deserves to go down as a legend in this city and play every professional snap of his career in black and gold it’s him. I’m sure some people will whine about this move on a monetary basis, and you probably wouldn’t be wrong, but he is the closest thing to the embodiment and personification of what it means to be a New Orleans Saints, and I couldn’t be happier for him. I just hope we can somehow put some pieces together to make sure he retires in the black and gold with a SB ring on his finger.

Post of the day.

Great move.. Saints need more players like him. Saints need to have him as one of the building blocks for the future under different coaches and better environment.

TH has 1 real yr left JW is no doubt gone next yr .KM is still on his rookie deal
And the AK deal has nothing to do with draft capitol. in fact it makes it so RB is not that much of a priority

AK’s deal costs 150% more than Henry’s. I’ve said in previous threads we should offer 1M more than Henry and 2 years (18M vs 24M) or seek a trade/release. We chose to over pay. Par for the course for in-house talent. I’d rather walk away today than tie us to an aging player at a young man’s position.

Yeah and I'm good with not blowing it up. But I'm not good with keeping DA which I fear this could signal. Hopefully Loomis does the right thing and brings in a new head coach.

I don't think this signals keeping DA. Signals to me we're doing a soft reset for the next few years instead of doing a fire sale and trying to trade what players we have with some trade value for picks. Going with the whole "staying competitive" shtick.

About the only move Loomis has left to sell the fans on next year is firing DA. We tried the new QB, that failed. Then we tried the firing Carmichael and bringing in a new offensive coaching staff and all of DA's guys on the defensive coaching staff, that isn't working. DA is the next domino to fall. New coach buys Loomis a few years to get the cap cleaned up. At 67 you have to wonder how much longer Loomis has left doing this...

That comes with McCoy, Ruiz, and Patrick coming back. Kamara still has the burst and vision but nothing he can do when there's no holes because we're playing 5th stringers.

It's funny going into the season we were concerned about Penning and a rookie but they've been our best linemen and most reliable.
Penning has a good year so far.

Yes!!! Finally a bit of good news. Must have AK in NO until he finally goes to the Old Soldier's Home.
