Saints are flying Kafka and Weaver in for 2nd interview (73 Viewers)

You’re can’t base 2025 based on 1971.

The point is that every organization wants an elite QB and would prefer to draft them. Look at where we have drafted since this regime took over and what our circumstances were. Payton was wrong on Garrett Grayson and right on Mahomes. One was there when we drafted (and the grade met the pick), and another was not.
The Saints got a first round pick for Sean Payton and Denver had to get out of the Russell Wilson debacle, yet Sean Payton has a first round QB before the Saints. That’s the sad part of this whole situation my fellow who dat.

It’s not needed. Teams are not passing up on candidates they believe are the best to lead their team simply because of their race. If that were the case it would be happening on the player side also.

I disagree, but in my experience, it’s not worth debating with someone that feels differently.

I like the idea of looking beyond the obvious. Nevertheless, I think Mick wants McCarthy because its a low-risk hire. He'll keep us slightly above average but never a true contender, that's all Mick needs to retire.

Underhill addressed the Kafka thing during his wildcard stream. He said Kafka is hugely respected in league circles when asking around about him. He said it was shocking to him at how well people in league circles spoke of him.

Yeah only 4 TDs and 0 picks
Not spectacular at all

Sarcasm-ALL THE WAY UP

Dude threw for 14 TDs in his first 4 games to 0 ints. Are yall telling me that Kafka had him walking on water instantaneously?!?!
I guffawed audibly.

Mahomes 1st official start was Dec 31 2017 vs the Broncos when Reid rested Alex Smith.

Mahomes was 22 of 35 for 285 and an INT.

Again, hardly spectacular.

I said when he became the starter. That fill in game at the end of his rookie season, he was not the named starter. You know that, I know that, and everyone knows that.
Plus, if you want to use that game as the measuring stick, then why didn’t Kafka have him prepped and ready to walk on water at that point? Everyone is talking up this dude about how effective his power point presentations were in 2017, as offensive quality control coach.

Problem is, no one can honestly give a really good reason as to why Kafka should be the HC of this team. Sure he is being “fast tracked”, but seriously what has he actually done that was earth shattering and maintained it??? This HC gig for our team, will not be for the weak. As I dissect what he has done in his short coaching career, he would be the type of person ML would gamble on, hope for the best, if the best happens, then ML would graduate to smoking cigars in press conferences, instead of chewing gum. Chest all puffed out, talking about “how we all thought the MK hiring was lazy, but he knew that he would be the next Sean Payton”. Honestly, it might be a “me” thing. I’m not ready for that

I don’t think I quoted you “I” made a point that Mahomes 1st game as a starter wasn’t spectacular.

“You” quoted me and gave incorrect stats related to my original comment.

I reiterated his 1st game, wasnt spectacular w/ proof that his actual 1st game wasn’t spectacular.

Nothing to see here, carry on.

Edit: I did quote you, but specifically what I was responding to was this part of your original comment.

“From the very first game that Mahomes started, he was ripping the NFL a new one and it just continued. That’s credit to the man taking the snaps.”

I was simply pointing out his very first game he did not rip the NFL a new one. Perhaps it came across as me critiquing you. Didn’t mean to.

That was my own way of pointing out that the right coach and right system can develop Rattler because the great Mahomes wasn’t Mahomes in his 1st start on a playoff team. After he had a full off-season in an NFL system he looked better, that’s my hope for Rattler as well
