OK. You tell us, who is going to to come in here and be a successful hc. It's easy to be negative about everything being reported, but instead of just being negative tell us who you would realistically hireNo to both

Close to the same haircut anyway.I mean we have Mahomes Lite right ?
Did the patriots do this ???The Rooney Rule to adjusted in 2021. You must interview 2 minority candidates “in person”.
From the NFL Operations Site:
“In 2021, the NFL approved changes requiring every team to interview at least two external minority candidates in person for open head coach and GM positions and at least two external minority candidates — in person or virtual — for a coordinator job

Were having two different discussions now.Allen - 7th overall pick
Stroud - 2nd overall pick
Daniels - 2nd overall pick
The Saints haven’t drafted a QB in the first two rounds since Archie Manning.
The Saints’ strategy is draft QB late/FA QB and a defensive minded head coach in that situation is a mistake. They need a QB guru as a head coach if they’re gonna be in that situation, so that they can get the most out of lesser talented QB’s. They can’t rely on an offensive assistant with that responsibility given how important the QB position is in the NFL IMO.
I agree that’s not a winning strategy, but I’m basing off the Saints history of drafting QB’s. They did have a chance at drafting a QB high in 2006, but still went the FA route. It worked out great as Brees ended up being a HOF QB and Matt Leinart was a bust, but my point remains that they don’t want to draft a QB high as it isn’t in their strategy. Were having two different discussions now.
I don’t think the Saints are against drafting a QB high. We just haven’t had a pick high enough where a QB we love is there.
Separately, I don’t think you just grab a QB guru as a head coach and hope he elevates a mid-round QB. That’s not a winning strategy, either.
Ha, I thought it was Temu Mahomes.I mean we have Mahomes Lite right ?
The last four QB's in the playoffs are all dynamic NFL QB's. Three out of the four are difference maker's with their legs. Do you see anyone in the draft that fits that bill? Milroe is the closest I see and he's not ready to play QB in the NFL. Brees wasn't dynamic with his arm or legs. He was smarter and worked harder than most in the NFL. Do you see a guy like that in the draft? I don't.I agree that’s not a winning strategy, but I’m basing off the Saints history of drafting QB’s. And the Saints also have the ability to trade up in drafts to go get the guy they like and haven’t done it for a QB, but they have done it for other positions including RB. They also have had the chance at drafting QB’s in the first and second round without trading up. Lamar Jackson, Jordan Love, and Jalen Hurts all had a chance to be a Saint without trading up.
You like conspiracy theories? Here’s one…
- There has been rumored strong interest in a Saints and McCarthy reunion, with reports first surfacing of this possibility in early January.
- There has been rumored strong interest in a Saints and Glenn reunion.
- Glenn just recently became available for in-person interviews, and we have yet to hear of any scheduled with us (I know, it’s early), though rumor has it he prefers the Jets job
- There is a rumored “early week” interview set to occur with McCarthy this week, but oddly no firm date has been confirmed as of yet
- Out of the blue, probably two of the less heralded candidates from our virtual interviews who happen to be minorities (the only two I believe) are scheduled on the same day for in-person interviews, with the backdrop of the elusive McCarthy interview still not finalized.
- Glenn would have provided one of the Rooney checkboxes in an organic fashion as a legitimate candidate, but perhaps it has been made known that he is destined for elsewhere (NYJ).
- Saints scramble, knowing that they will definitely hire a certain someone imminently since it is known behind the scenes that Glenn is taken, and they are forced to take care of the Rooney checkboxes with Kafka and Weaver immediately
- Rumored McCarthy interview is scheduled and commences, and if things go as planned, they hire him on the spot.
I have no clue which QB is best to draft high whether that be five years ago, last year, this year, or two years from now. It’s up the Saints FO to decide who’s their guy and go get him. But I guess no one has fit the bill thus far because they haven’t drafted a QB high since 1971.The last four QB's in the playoffs are all dynamic NFL QB's. Didn’t need to be in the QB room. Mahomes is one of the rare athletes that is truly blessed by God and was destined to be head/shoulders above the competition, if he put in the work. Dude was making crazy *** throws in college and those throws only got more remarkable in the NFL. He’s insane with accuracy, power, body control, mentality, etc.Impossible for you to say. Nobody knows this unless you where in that QB room.
Is it fair to give him all of the credit? No. But it's also not fair to remove all credit.
I am once again glad nobody is overreacting. Everyone being totally cool and rational just like always.
Milroe will be a terror to defend for years to come, like Lamar Jax. He will be that same game breaker we saw in college, in the NFL. The tricky thing for Milroe is finding an NFL coordinator that will run a 55:45 run to pass scheme. He fits perfectly into the Ravens. Theoretically, the Saints could hire Todd Monken and draft Milroe at 9 and we could be the Ravens of the south. The last four QB's in the playoffs are all dynamic NFL QB's.
