Saints are flying Kafka and Weaver in for 2nd interviews [Interviews completed] (1 Viewer)

I don’t think I quoted you “I” made a point that Mahomes 1st game as a starter wasn’t spectacular.

“You” quoted me and gave incorrect stats related to my original comment.

I reiterated his 1st game, wasnt spectacular w/ proof that his actual 1st game wasn’t spectacular.

Nothing to see here, carry on.

Edit: I did quote you, but specifically what I was responding to was this part of your original comment.

“From the very first game that Mahomes started, he was ripping the NFL a new one and it just continued. That’s credit to the man taking the snaps.”

I was simply pointing out his very first game he did not rip the NFL a new one. Perhaps it came across as me critiquing you. Didn’t mean to.

That was my own way of pointing out that the right coach and right system can develop Rattler because the great Mahomes wasn’t Mahomes in his 1st start on a playoff team. After he had a full off-season in an NFL system he looked better, that’s my hope for Rattler as well
Weird how I led that with the “first year starting bit”. So yeah, carry on

So a year after Kafka developed him into a great QB? :)

Seriously, Mahomes clearly had all the tools, but he did need to be developed and taught the pro game since he was coming from Kingsbury's version of the Air Raid at Texas Tech. And I doubt Kafka was a huge part of it. But he likely did contribute to developing him no matter how small. And Mahomes himself has given credit to Kafka for helping to develop him.

Are we maybe looking to hire a scapegoat while "unintentionally tanking" and resetting the cap before hiring a really good coach 2-3 years from now.

If that was, in any way, the plan - you’d just keep Rizzi in place and change very little.

I think a large portion of this fanbase is too eager to crap on anything the front office does. For some of you, no amount of referencing that a given coaching candidate is talked about well in league circles (not just Saints circles, but there is a sort of leaguewide consensus that whichever guy is a highly-regarded candidate) is good enough. You’re writing term paper-length invectives on a message board asking other members of the same message board to write term papers back convincing you otherwise.

Please take a step back and look at the person you’re becoming.

The biggest downside is that it slows the Saints’ process down in terms of being in Rooney compliance.
At this point I think everyone knows it’s McCarthy, and they’re probably already working a contract out with him, just have to get in compliance with the stupid rooney rule.

Almost as if Loomis has made his choice already just looking like he entertained all options before announcing the new HC....
