Saints Cap Moves: $33,780,933 cap space ….. 8 restructures, 3 extensions, 3 pay cut, 1 release [All current cap moves are in OP below line] (185 Viewers)

$16 million in cap space likely means they have a specific move or moves planned. They normally don't make moves to create cap space once under the cap unless they need specific money for a signing or signings.

I was thinking the same thing. May be getting their ducks in a row for a trade to go through tomorrow as soon as the league year begins.

Ruiz is automatically a Saint the next two years because he has a terrible team contract.

As an inconsistent vet drafted in the first round years ago, he carried an unfathomable dead cap of $20M in 2024.

Now that his contract has been restructured, he carries a 22M dead cap in 2025 and $17M in 2026 - with 0 cap savings for cutting him post-June 1.

It's not until 2027 that his contract normalizes, in cap, dead cap, and cap savings if released post-June 1.

Kellen, figure this guy out.... his position, the guys next to him, etc.. I believe he has a higher talent ceiling than we've seen.

Looks like we have less than $16m.

When the contracts for Johnson and Kpassagnon void, that will add two more roughly $1m contracts to our top 51.

Chase Young's number does not show anything but his proration from the old contract, with a $17m signing bonus his hit will be at about $4.6m more.

That puts us under $10m in space.

Gonna be a rough time in the dome if the offense comes out of the gate the same way they have the last few seasons. Either an empty or hostile dome and pitchforks coming out for Carr if he doesn’t play well.
Didn’t they set NFL records for scoring first two games of last year?

I was watching Dora’s Halloween Special with my daughter when she was 2. She said “this is the scary part daddy”

“I’m scared already, can I hold your hand?”

“No. You hold your own hand”

She is 12 now and I know I’d get the same response :hihi:

Back to football, Saunders is serviceable and can help hold down the fort as we rebuild
We girl dad's rule!

Am I correct - that all of these players will not be re-signed when their contracts expire at the end of this year:

• Taysom Hill
• Cameron Jordan
• Demario Davis
• Nathan Shepherd
• Payton Turner
• Khalen Saunders
• Cedrick Wilson

Does someone know the dead money amounts for not resigning them next year?

Hoping this will allow us to sign younger talent.
• Taysom Hill
Dead Cap $10m for 2026.

• Cameron Jordan
Dead Cap $15m for 2026.

• Demario Davis
Dead Cap $14m for 2026

• Nathan Shepherd
Dead Cap $4m for 2026

• Payton Turner
Turner's fifth year option was declined and is a UFA this year. No Dead Cap implications with him at all.

• Khalen Saunders
Dead cap $3.5m for 2026.

• Cedrick Wilson
Dead Cap $500k for 2026.

Total Dead cap hit of $43m if we don't resign any of those players. Even with that dead money already on the books for 26 the Saints are still $37m under the cap for 2026, so they could and likely will walk away from many of these players.

Yeah, I was just looking at the current raw number. Not sure what that does or doesn't include. But even $9 million under is more than they usually stay under unless they have deals planned. And we know they are likely going to get Cam and Taysom to take pay cuts so more is likely on the horizon.

Aren’t we also getting some cap space from Ram soon or is that a Post 6/1 thing?

You think Taysom isn’t producing? Not sure what games you watched.

All the ones he didn't play in?

Taysom is a great guy and a great player on the field, but his injuries are adding up every year. In order to have him for most of the season they are going to have to severely limit his touches. Which means he is going to have to take a pay cut. And, honestly, with the number of injuries he has had, Hill may want to retire soon to save his health for his family.

FWIW, Underhill said on his Nickcast today that he thinks the Saints want to fill the hole at CB in free agency. Doesn't mean they will get it done, but they are at least going to try.

I wonder if they are looking at Asante Samuel, Jr. given his connection to Staley?

Nick also said that they are looking to bring Patrick back, but they want to sign a Guard to play ahead of him and have him for depth.
