So called "sports reporters" act a lot more like influencers these days than they do actual reporters. They are all more heavily invested in coming across as experts and telling people what they should think. They all get really testy when teams, coaches and players don't do what they've spent a lot of time preaching that they should do.

I think it's because it undermines their credibility and if they lose that, then they lose their job. That's a lot of stress to be under, so I get why they get so upset and lash out at people who don't do what they've been telling everyone that those people should do.

This goes for more than just sports reporters. At some point people began believing that their way is the best way to run/fix a football team and when the team doesn’t follow their exact lead, all hell breaks loose and tantrums get thrown. It wasn’t always like this.

Is carr better than hurts ? Eagles O line better? Yes can Kellen Moore create more offense plays for Carr and the offense? End a weak division.

Carr is who he is at this point. You can win w/ him, you won't win because of him.

Honestly, I don't. I respond to maybe 10% of your posts. The only time I've asked you and others for a source is when you make claims that I haven't seen supported in any actual reports.

You aren't even the first person I asked to please provide a source that says the Saints told someone they were asking Carr to take a paycut. You seem to be personalizing something that isn't personal.


When I hear someone say something like this, it almost always means that they realize they can't actually find a source that supports what they are saying, because they misread their original source.

I think "explore the market" means he wanted to see what his market value was before actually renegotiating the contract, similar to what Stafford and the Rams did. I don't think it necessarily means Carr wanted to leave the team. He might have wanted to leave, but he might have just wanted to find out his market value before doing a new contract.

We did use a 1st rd pick on Dave Wilson in 81. We also traded away a 1,2 and 3 for Walsh. Drafting a QB in the 1st rd just to say you did it is idiotic

I actually didn’t know that was the current rule. Did that change fairly recently, because I’ve been here a long time and always remember one quoted paragraph from a pay article was okay?

However, in Mickey's scouting combine interview he hinted that they had to do "Something about his contract" There's literally no need to say that if the inteded plan was ever to just do a standard restructure.

It's pretty apparent they appraoched him about doing something "other" than a standard restructure and they just settled on that. If people can't come to that conclusion on their own w/ the data provided it's because they don't want to.

Yep. They could have worked something out that would have lowered his cap numbers over the next couple years but maximized his guaranteed money. A win win for everyone. Carr isn't about that though and apparently just wanted out, so we just went with our only option to be able to free up enough money to compete, the built in restructure.

Reality: It was going to be 2027 when the cap is cleaned up, to not be an albatross. I've said that all along.

Good news: The decision's been made, the team can move forward. Fanbase too. You hope Moore + Carr will improve Carr and normalize away his annual shirtshow persona. Remember, Carr does not go to the playoffs and Carr does not beat good teams. He hits a bomb TD alot in games, but not much more. He is not mobile and Moore will want mobil e in the future. We're not rehashing the 'is Carr responsible for that or someone else/other things?' We have a career of data that no Carr apologist can refute. The new variable is Moore.

Good news: They got the contract under better control with the $10M cap savings over dead cap if they jettison his butt out of here in a year.

People's assumptions: This could've simply been a this year or next year business decision. I would not assume things like..

Not sure why we continue to debate Carr on this page. He’s a mid QB who you can win with, but not because of. He needs everything around him to be perfect to have a serious shot at a championship (and that’s being kind). Yet, he’s unwilling to take a pay cut that would improve the chances of that happening.

Winston was a below average QB but the fans embraced him because he embraced us and the city. Carr talks a good game but delivers little and has shown he doesn’t give a damn about New Orleans. It doesn’t help when his brothers consistently spout nonsense on social media either.

The usual homers on here can continue to defend him but the sooner he’s off this team the better. 8-9 seasons might excite some, but no thank you.
