Saints DE Marcus Davenport is hurt (Edit: Now-Lions DE Davenport out for season, 2024) (1 Viewer)

I'm glad other people feel this way. I tell myself every week that the complete stress for 3.5 hours every Sunday isn't worth it - and yet I continue to put myself through it week after week. And the games drain you for the rest of the day, so nothing productive gets done afterwards. Why do this to ourselves?

That's a sign of an unhealthy addiction. Lol.

Seriously, my only concern with this news is that I feel bad for Marcus.

Personally, I've always been a person who finds enjoyment and excitement in the journey - the getting there - more than the final destination. Buckle up my Who Dat sisters and brothers! However it ends up, we are set up again for one hell of a ride!

And who knows, maybe when the ride stops this season we get out in the land of milk and honey - seizing our second Lombardi.

In the end, remember it's just entertainment. I love it - all of it - the bad and good!

Anyone inside the Saints confirm Davenport out for the season? All the reports I am reading site Nfl.com rapaport as the source for the info.
Usually they don’t make this stuff up. He’s done. The team will announce it in the next day or two.

Since they don’t play until Monday, are they required to release an injury report tomorrow? I can’t remember.

Payton usually keeps injury news on lockdown until the accompanying roster moves are worked out.

So if all this is true, I expect Davenport to IR followed by a signing of one of those people we worked out.

All we need now is a cryptic tweet from Davenport or Rankins to really fuel speculation.

I'm curious to know what he did. Ultimately from video I thought achilles. (happened just as he burst off the snap). But Underhill said not that... So then you have really only one serious foot injury... Liz franc. Plantar facitits I dont think they would term serious (altho u can have surgery to snip it)

All I know is that dude was rounding into form only to have this. Heart goes out to the young man and hope he can fully recover and get back to being a terror for opponents in 2020
Hope I'm wrong but I keep thinking lisfranc.

The Saints never confirm until they have to. Dez Bryant literally tore his Achilles and Payton had a press conference mere minutes later and told reporters “he looked okay in practice”

I get holding out hope for better news but Ian is a credible source and so is Tom Pelissero.

No one ever asks for further confirmation when reporters tweet positive news about the Saints.

Ryan Neilson will have those young bucks ready. Let's not act like we were getting a ton of pressure when Davenport was in. We can always be better. I'd like to see Granderson ,hendrickson, and Edwards get their shot
It’s one thing to be positive. But let’s not discredit Davenport’s impact. Sometimes it’s ok to say “This loss sucks”.

I’m sure Payton’s injury report tomorrow will let us know their status.
After the carnage that seems to be in the wake of Sunday’s game — and the guys injured in previous weeks, I’m thinking this injury report might be the worst one we’ve seen in ages.

?

We haven't had one catestrophic injury.

We've had a series of injuries that completely depleted our front 7 that was so dominant and deep just a few weeks ago. We could have dealt with the loss of Davenport. Hell, we could have dealt with the loss of Davenport and Rankins. You can't lose the combination of Davenport, Rankins, Kiko, AJ and Anzalone. That's 4 of our starting front 7 and a key backup. This leads to our defense not being nearly as good which also means that our defense is going to be on the field more and we have lost 2 of our starting dlinemen so it's harder to keep them fresh.
On top of all that, it completely depletes our team speed on the edges where we can no be exploited all day long outside the tackles and by RB's in the passing game. If you compensate and cheat guys outside then you get gashed up the middle. If you give help to RB's then the TE and receivers will gash you.

Brees is going to absolutely light it up the rest of the season and it may not be enough. Good thing we've already clinched. At this point we shouldn't rush anyone back and just try to get healthy for the playoffs.
