Saints expected to be very interested in former Packers/Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy [McCarthy will interview early next week] (22 Viewers)

I may have misunderstood the question. If what’s being asked is how long will he be given to turn the team around, I think any coach deserves three years to get to the playoffs in today’s game, unless you immediately turn the team into a complete crap show, with player mutinies and such.

…kind of like what happened with DA.

That seems likely especially given Loomis and really most NFL GMs outside of the Jets and Raiders. As far as how long he stays, I would think he would at least stay long enough to get to 200 wins. He has 174 now so that should be in 2 or 3 years. But, maybe he would stay longer depending on where the team was.

That’s been my reasoning as to when Payton retires for good. And this applies to MM too.
200 wins AND a Super Bowl is a lock for the HOF.
You’ll get five seasons out of MM. Hopefully more if the team is winning.

Interesting. Could explain why we’re laying low and playing coy with his pursuit.

It’s possible we already know he’s our guy and we are merely just doing due diligence with other candidates before pulling the trigger.
When I first heard that he escaped his way out of Dallas, I immediately thought that the Saints had something to do with it, just a gut feeling. Then there’s Chicagos interest. This sort of gives Mike leverage over us, so to even that leverage out, we’re stalling the process by doing multiple interviews pretending like we aren’t in a hurry to get a deal done. We have ties to basically another Sean Payton. It’s a slam dunk, is how I’d think, that Mickey sees it. Considering they worked together in 2000-2004 and he clearly was the talent of that regime.

Think he just coaches until he doesn’t want to do it anymore. He’s at age 61, so if he gets us good I can see him doing it for 8 years or so, at least.

I mean, Pete Carroll is 73 and getting interviewed for jobs.

He’s also the same age as Sean Payton, FWIW.
And Pete Carrol, is the odds on Fav for the Raiders, as per yesterday
