Saints head coach Kellen Moore introductory press conference, media updates, February 13, 2025 (12 Viewers)

This doesn't sound like a coach who is about to dump his QB!
thanks for posting that! Lets look at the Carr situation from the actual angle its looked upon. And its this, Mickey: "we paid 30 freaking MILLION DOLLARS for this QB to play in 2025, and you fans want us to cut him and eat it? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FREAKING MIND? Why, so you idiots can say, You blow now under Rattler, why did you get rid of Carr!"

now if Car gets cut, then feel free to remind of this post. But its not going to happen.

Nobody knows what they are going to do with Carr. But, given that we could soon have to guarantee him another $30 million, the decision is coming up soon.

I don't know that Carr will or won't be cut. I do know, from over a decade of history, that Loomis and the Saints are not going to give any consideration at all to what the fans think they should do, when they make their decision.

At best, we can only "speak something into existence" into our direct lives. Even then, it's not really the speaking that brings it into existence, it's the actions we take.

It's impossible to "speak something into existence" into anyone else's lives, especially when we aren't able to speak directly to them.

That may have once been true and I don't think they will decide on Carr based on what the fans want and they shouldn't, but Gayle did mention that fan displeasure is at least part of the reason she decided to fire DA mid-season. The other part was feedback from the players.

Biggest take away is his comment about building through the Oline/Dline.

The "no fat guys round one" folks on here might be in for an upsetting pick at pick 9.

He also spoke highly about AK and Taysom... and how every team is looking for one of them... He also spoke highly of Carr.... So I guess there is reading between the lines, and just hearing what you want to...

What he said about building through the Oline/Dline.... Is what every coach in the NFL says right before they draft a guy like Jeanty, TMac, or Warren - Or even a QB at 9....

I think we'll know the Saints' decision by no later than that guarantee day. I think that date is March 15th, so we don't have more than 30 days until we find out. We could find out before then.

He also mentioned "the Oline is a huge important piece to us... and to me the energy of your entire football team"

Prepare yourself for OL at pick 9.

I think firing DA was based solely on the performance on the field and what players and staff had to say. I think she just mentioned the fan displeasure for public relations purposes.

I highly doubt Kellen Moore would have signed on with the Saints if there was any hint that what fans think would be factored into the decision making process in any way. I know I wouldn't. Fans don't know nearly as much as they think they know and they never will.

He also said "This team has already invested in the Oline".... And that Carr was a great QB... And that every team wants players like AK and Taysom...

We can do this all day...

I'm prepared for whatever... Most likely and logically though... I see most of the fat guys worth taking at 9 being gone by then... and we end up with a point scoring offensive weapon of a building block for Moore to play with as the rebuild starts - to make us competitive and generate excitement.... sort of like what happened in 2006 with Reggie.

I don't need to wait to remind you about a post that is factually incorrect to begin with. You clearly don't read or study anything about these contracts. The team has NOT paid $30m for Carr to play in 2025, none of his salary is guaranteed until March 15th. They owe him a $10m roster bonus that vested last March under a different head coach. That's it.

What remains of his cap hit is what he earned over the first two seasons that was shifted to bonuses.

I'm curious to know how many of the actual contracts you've read first hand?

All NFL contracts are complicated legal documents and Loomis does some of the most complicated and creative contracts, especially in regards to compensation and how it impacts the salary cap.

Every year "cap experts" tell us that the Saints "only have these options" and every year the Saints utilize options that none of the "cap experts" saw coming. I think that's because the so called "cap experts" either don't read the actual contract or don't fully understand what they are reading or how it actually impacts the salary cap.
