By Nick Underhill -- Advocate

Do you see Saints utilizing all three RBs on the field at the same time (Ingram, Peterson, Kamara)?

This is certainly intriguing to think about. The Saints only used three men in the backfield on two passing plays last season, and on both occasions one of the players in the backfield was a tight end.

Here are both plays:

Are we going to see the T-formation? The wishbone? Can the single wing be far behind? :ezbill:

We really are blessed to have Nick Underhill as a beat writer for our team.

I hope he stays around for a good, long time. Dude always brings it with his articles - even in the off season, which is a helluva feat to accomplish in itself.

I completely agree with his answer regarding Peat. They spent a #12 pick on the guy (which Payton's buddy Gruden predicted flawlessly on air) and then a bunch of strange things kinda keep happening to the guy.

He's at Stanford, so he misses some early time due to school scheduling.
Strief finds the fountain of youth. Seriously, this guy has played outstanding the last two years.
Armstead develops into a top 3 LT.......and continues to be lost for large portions of the season.
Peat shows that the right side of the line isn't for him, so he finds a place at LG. Then he fills in reasonably well at LT.
Ramcyzk gets drafted. A very nice LT who Payton thought projected great as a RT, only to see Armstead go down again.

Maybe I just have B&G glasses on, but I think the kid's a player. The Saints simply have the weirdest collection of talent, and yet no perfect solution when it comes to their 4 OT's. And Peat has certainly been the guy who's progression has been hampered by it the most. I get it, if he really was that much of a monster, he would be the unquestioned LT of the future and yada, yada, yada. But I hate that he is spoken ill of when it's not his fault he was drafted 12th and its not his fault he has been moved as often as he has.

Look on the bright side when thinking about Peat as a player. He's good, he's versatile (enough), he's young, he's cheap, and he's still improving.

And that's enough for me.

He doesn't try to fill the dead air time between Mini Camp and Training Camp with a bunch fluff pieces like "Countdowns" and "Top 5's". He does what he should when he knows, that in one week, he will be working 7 days per week for the next six months. He goes on vacation.

Are those "3 in the backfield" really just max protect? Both teams in the pictures get a lot of pressure on Drew.

Good analysis on Peat. It's mind blowing to think if things work out a certain way, Armstead could be considered depth in a few months.

Big difference between three running backs on the field at the same time and 3 running backs in the back field at the same time. You can have the traditional 2 back set with Cadet in the slot or out wide and have 3 backs on the field.

I really don't see Payton jeopardizing protection on pass plays, or subtracting blockers up front on running plays. When the Joker is in, he will probably swap in a FB or TE for a RB or WR.

Goal Line - Ram, Peat, Unger, Warford, Streif, Ingram, Peterson, Kamra, Khun and Hooman. :9:

Hate to say it but he's outta here! He too good, someone is gonna scoop him up. I truly hope he hangs around like Henderson.
