I’m in agreement with Adam here. Probably not gonna happen but if they swing for the fences, you take your chances on a franchise QB. They haven’t done it in 53 years. They can build around a QB on a rookie contract with free agency considering their cap will clear up in the next few years.I reported 9/40/71/next year's 2nd or 9/40/next year's first round pick. I'd assume Carr would be in the mix as well. I think the Titans like Ward and may now are zeroing in on him as their guy but that certainly was not the case the last month or so as they really have wanted Abdul Carter. Because this QB class isn't last year's and Ward isn't seen to be the same level of prospect that Bryce Young was, the cost to move up is considered lower. However, I've always maintained I highly doubt TEN does the deal because moving to 9 takes them out of the range of Carter or Hunter which is something I'm 99% sure they don't want to do.
But premium picks are just that... they are premium until they become players and then they are... Payton Turner? Davenport? Penning?
Since you posted this, the Pats signed Diggs. The one thing that could make the cost reasonable enough is either including Olave in a trade with the Titans or trading Olave to the Pats to move up to #4 and then moving from #4 to #1. But that will depend on how the Titans or the Pats feel about Olave's injury history. Carr could have been a good piece to a trade with the Titans to reduce the draft pick cost, but I don't think we can absorb the cap hit of a pre-June 1 trade.
Yup and they were a multi playoff team in the yrs before Mahomes. My point is that their team was good before they traded up to get Mahomes making the impact of trading away those picks a lot less if they needed those picks to upgrade the teamYet the Chiefs were a great example of a team trading up to get “their guy” at QB. A guy that wasn’t considered a “generational talent” at QB, but one with many traits they liked and great production in college. Certainly some parallels to Ward. They traded their 2017 first, 2018 first, and a 2017 third to jump ahead of the Saints to get Mahomes.
Yes some of the best OLs have lower picks as starters but there may be only 1 later pick in the bunch, they are mostly filled with 1st and 2nd rnd picks even if they were not their own picks. Just because you miss on 1st rnd picks on the OL and DL does not mean the need goes away. Do you take less of a % pick trying to fill the need?I agree that the team needs to stop drafting premium picks on the lines. Just last year, before the draft, I literally posted how the good/great teams have mid/late rd picks on their OLine and even UDFAs as well. Listed all of the rounds their players were selected. Still got pushback. We have wasted so many opportunities at BPA. Too many on here talks about the “cloud” of players, to justify picking the need portion of the cloud. That’s not how drafting is supposed to be. You draft the guy who is the better of the players, even if they are in a cloud. It should be simple, but it hasn’t been for our FO
That was not my point, KC was a good team BEFORE they traded up to get Mahomes. A multi playoff team. They did not have as many needs as we do. Therefore the picks that were traded to get Mahomes did not have the impact on upgrading the team as much as if we were to trade say 2#1s and 2#2s and maybe Olave to move up to get WardDing ding ding - thank you!
With the injury history of both Olave and Shaheed it makes perfect sense to sign CooksThe Brandon Cooks signing makes no sense to me unless you're moving on from either Shaheed or Olave soon. They're not your 6'3+ big body contest catches guys.
I'm always letting typos get by, so this is not a criticism or calling out. I just really got a great laugh out of taking the typo at face value.Y’all need some kind of reality drug if you think. We are going to waste multiple picks
I don't know what the Titans are thinking, but Schefter is reporting that the Titan's asking price will go up and others are reporting that the Titan's media content team was at Ward's workout recording him.Titans have lowered their original cost. Ward @ his pro day having words w/ Titans Brass “sealing the deal” the Titans setting up a private workout.
They aren’t sold on him.
Rather go to a team that is.
Are we taking about how the Saints have gone from 200:1 odds of drafting first overall 4 days ago to today they are listed at 26:1?
Yep, Sportscenter just said the price has gone up after his pro day. “Yesterday’s price is not today’s price.”I don't know what the Titans are thinking, but Schefter is reporting that the Titan's asking price will go up and others are reporting that the Titan's media content team was at Ward's workout recording him.
