Saints met with top QB prospect Cam Ward; Cam Ward: “It would be a dream of mine to play for the Saints” [Saints may inquire about trading up for Cam] (85 Viewers)

Swap firsts, trade Carr to TN, and give them whatever else they need to make the trade work
I wouldn’t necessarily say give them whatever else they want and I’m not sure TN has had any desire to trade back especially for a veteran QB past his prime. If they could pull that off with a swap, trade of DC, and give us their 2025 3rd for our 2026 2nd round pick I’d be down. Plus a Pre June 1st trade kills us with dead money. Post June 1st trade more realistic.

I think most of that is right. But I don't really see Carr as a pocket passer or a bootleg guy. He's okay at both, but his super power is the play action passing game and particularly the deep ball off of it. If you sit him in the pocket as a drop back passer all too often he ends up holding the ball too long and then throwing it away because he lacks the pocket mobility to buy time for off schedule throws. I think he's best used when you limit his options, limit the time he has to think, and just make him throw quick off of play action. That's what KK did with him in the first two games and it worked well. It seemed to not work well when he tried to get Carr to sit in the pocket.

Which is going to be interesting because Moore likes to vary tempo on offense and Carr seems a difficult fit for that kind of offense. That said, Moore is the type that will adjust to the players he has so we will likely see less tempo than Moore would like.
He doesn’t think the game
Matt Stafford was locked along time too
not in my opinion

The most impressive thing about this tweet is that he name dropped Colston. Everyone knows Brees of course. Most football fans born after 2001 would not know who Colston is because he was so underrated here. He's a true fan of the game. Here's a kid that was 7 years old when the Saints won the Superbowl. I think it's football 24/7 for this guy not because of the money but because he actually lives it.

Cam is different.

I’d bet my mortgage on him being a top 8-ish QB within the next 3-5 years.

This might be as close as we get to drafting a high profile QB prospect. @9 we would give up some draft capital to move up but if you land a top future QB u do it. I can live with not having a 1st rounder for a couple years and some other picks if it means we got a franchise QB. Plenty of talent in rounds 2-7 to get by. We need a star qb

I’d love to see it.

I do think, unfortunately, Tennessee seems to be zeroing in on him. I kinda figured teams would fall in love with him during the draft process and he’d end up going 1st to someone.
Yeah Tennessee needs a QB and a few days ago I saw they were ready to transition from Levis. Unless they see a fatal flaw with Ward why not just take him at #1 and be done with it. We'd have to blow them away with a trade offer to get them to move.

1. Getting Brees to sign here (thanks Miami team doc)
2. Him having the success he did here
3. Him saying and resigning multiple times and playing as long as he did here after initially coming over in 2006

Those things do NOT happen, almost ever. Point of the story is….vast majority of the time you’re going to have to draft your franchise QB. Just look at whoever you consider the top 7-10 QBs today are and how they got to those teams. If we feel Ward is legit, give up 9 and whatever else it takes to make it happen. If you don’t have your QB, you’re going nowhere.

I def see titans taking him at #1, can’t see them trading him at all. But the minuscule amount of hope left in me is like well maybe they are just trying to drive up the offers they’re getting.

I suppose if Tennessee staff think the Saints aren't going to be good this season, it may not be a terrible "gamble" on their part to get pick #9 this year and "presumably" a high 1st round pick next year among other potential Saints picks as well in what should be a higher regarded QB class.

I wouldn't mind trading up for Cam Ward as I think he is the only QB that I'd take high in the draft and I think he could be a top tier NFL QB. I'd much prefer trading up for Cam Ward than staying put and drafting Jaxson Dart or Shadeur Sanders if that's what the front office has in mind. With that said, I really do want to see what Moore can do working with Rattler this season as well.
