Saints planned to interview Mike McCarthy; McCarthy didn’t garner enough interest from Saints and will take a year off (9 Viewers)

That was with the Packers, no?
And I'll reiterate, no HC has won SBs with 2 different teams.

Yes, but he has still won a lot of playoff games (more than all but a few currently active coaches and more than Payton) and I'll reiterate that it doesn't matter if no HC has won SBs with two different teams. Those things are true until they are not and it was also true that no QB has won the SB with two different teams but now both Manning and Brady have done it. The list of things that had not been done and the list of things said to be impossible that happen all the time now is incredibly long.

Any how many playoff games have any of the remaining HC candidates won?

Finally, I'll ask you, if you were Denver, would you have not hired Sean Payton?

Why is that relevant? The question is can this guy coach? Can he run offenses that are consistently in the top 10 in the league? Is he a proven winner? He checks all of the boxes and then some.

He's still 2nd or 3rd on my list, but strictly based on credentials, McCarthy has them all beat, and it's not close.

That said, I'd be pretty happy with any of McCarthy, Brady and Glenn. Those are my top three and not necessarily in that order.

Reid didn't win a ring in Philly, and no other Superbowl coach has gone somewhere else and won one.
I promise I do not mean any disrespect. However, could you imagine a GM ever even considering this in the slightest when discussing a possible candidate for their head coaching position? We both know the answer to that question is absolutely no, it would never be brought up. It’s hard as heck to even get to the Super Bowl much less winning. Only seven coaches in history have led multiple teams to the Super Bowl with different organizations. However, the last thing the Saints need to be worried about right now is a Super Bowl because they have an entire roster that needs to be rebuilt from the floor up. The guy that can best do that needs the job, regardless who it is.

What a short memory some of you have. Do y’all not remember when he was our OC in the Haslett regime? If so you remember the complete collapse of Aaron Brooks and the year that McCarthy refused to bench Brooks when all we needed was to win 1 game of our final 3 but McCarthy and his arrogance would not put Jake Delhomme in or start any of those games. When we got to the final game of the season it was the last chance and he still would not start or put Delhomme in the game. Before anybody says “well obviously he wasn’t ready” the very next year Delhomme takes Carolina to the Superbowl!! You really want someone who made these kind of decision mistakes to be our HC? No way!
Tell us you have no idea or no true recollection of what actually happened

I’d be fine with it.

Unless we are going to pull one of the big names like Ben Johnson, I’d be happy with someone who will bring stability.

I’m not convinced he’s Andy Reid. But I also think he’s shown (like Reid) that he can establish a floor and win big with a great QB.

Don’t like it. Don’t care what his regular season record is.
It’s no different than hiring Sean back. Literally one in the same when comparing numbers.

I guess I just trust Loomis more with a safe pick that I know for a fact will build the roster and team back rather than going with someone who is an unknown.

However, I’d be ok with McCarthy, Brady, or Glenn

Not sure what the 🤦 is all about. The numbers don’t lie. They’re very identical coaches

Sean has been a HC for 17 years, Mike for 18 years

Sean is 170-105 as a HC, Mike is 174-112

Sean is 9-9 in the playoffs, Mike is 11-11

Sean has been to the NFC Championship 3 times, Mike 4 times

Sean is 1-0 in the SB, Mike is 1-0 in the SB

Sean has had a top 10 scoring offense 12 times, Mike has 11 times

Sean has had a top 10 scoring D 5 times, Mike has 6 times

He literally is Sean Payton 2.0 or Sean is Mike McCarthy 2.0
