Saints released Michael Thomas per Duncan; Thomas & Winston are Post-June 1 cuts (2 Viewers)

It's definitely a confusing thing. And, officially, there has not ben an NFL transaction for Michael Thomas. So, he has not been terminated. Jameis Winston was terminated on March 13th and designated a post June 1st cut.

So, what's the hold up, if it really is going to be a termination? MT might have a point here.
It’s interesting that the league’s transaction wire doesn’t list his release. All team reporters tweeted that he was released with Jameis Winston as post-June 1 cuts on the first day of FA. Football news accounts also reported that Thomas hits FA on the first day of FA.

Maybe the league overlooked reporting Thomas’ release. Or there’s an odd technicality in the post-June 1 cut procedure that’s preventing the league from immediately listing his termination.

Thomas isn’t listed on the team roster on the Saints website and ESPN anymore. Saints don’t appear to consider him as part of the team anymore.

Is it ok to publicly criticize the capability of your QB or organization to the public, after a playoff loss, during active personnel transition? Any reasonable, respectful person wouldn’t embarrass their QB, team or company to the public. Repeatedly. 5 times towards Brees, Carr and the FO.

Keep criticism within the organization’s building. Michael Thomas didn’t know how or refused to do so like any decent teammate. Thomas is the only player on the team, and apparently people who defend his unprofessionalism and teamkilling to death, who thinks it’s ok to publicly shat on the team because he had 1700 yard, 100+ reception years (with a HOF QB). We seen McCoy and Carr have a spat on the field but neither threw each other under the bus to the media postgame. Carr immediately took accountability for yelling at his WR on the field. Thomas never has for how his words affects the team. No one who’s team first, values team success and team chemistry behaves the way he does towards the team online.

He forced his way out because the writing’s on the wall that two younger WRs are more talented, valuable and reliable at this stage of all 3 of their careers. It doesn’t take Thomas throwing the team under the bus for even the team to know that team improvements needed to be made which was already planned and put in motion. Saints hired a very good OC while Thomas told the public that the Saints couldn’t as he criticized the team’s OC search like an outsider. Saints will move forward with a great young WR core and continue making improvements from behind closed doors. For the remainder of Thomas’ career, future suitors will likely offer incentive laden deals for Thomas to be a complimentary WR who will blow up at his QB and FO on twitter when his new teams start losing games and not throwing him the ball.
That and, he threw a brick at a blue collar working mans truck, that was fan of Mt. Fatal attraction vibes

He’s gone, we would have been locked in to a $119m bonus if he was still on the roster. I’m not sure why that site hasn’t picked the release up, but it comes up on Spotrac.

Agreed.

First off, thanks to Michael Thomas for all he's done for the Saints. It's a shame he got injured, and the surgery didn't take (or wasn't done well, no idea). It was a long, hard road to get back to being able to play.

He's always been a very passionate and outspoken guy. The problem with that, is that it always looks bad, when the performance isn't there. That, coupled with a few too many "real talk" tweets, he just came off like a jerk. It's probably just some frustration talking, so I wouldn't really think too much of it.

Well said, I feel the same way....had it not been for the injury he could have been a HOFer IMO.....At 31 it's going to be tough for him to get back to his prime playing days, they are likely over now....man, time flies.....

For some reason, this all makes the 2018 NFCCG No-Call even more egregious to me. SMH. Brees should have had another shot at a title, MT and AK should have played in their first Super Bowl, and Payton should have coached in his second.
It also robbed everyone of what would have been an absolutely colossal “Brady vs. Brees” Super Bowl, but fans of other teams were too busy aiming their darts at Saints fans to care about the impending trash heap of a game that was coming.

Also the Saints would have smoked the Patriots in that Super Bowl.

Yep. Would have been an all-time classic matchup on paper but we would have obliterated that Patriots team.

It also would have happened in Atlanta, with us as the home team in the Falcons locker room.

We were really robbed of a legendary moment for Brees, and a moment that also could have cemented SP’s Hall of Fame resume.

I’ve always said that it is absolutely incredible that we never got a Saints-Patriots Super Bowl. Took several miracles for that to occur, and the one time we did get there, it was a very rare year where NE played in and got trounced in round 1.
