Saints request to interview Kliff Kingsbury [Jan. 28: Kingsbury decides to remain with Commanders] (13 Viewers)

He was never going to even consider leaving Washington this year. JD is making him look like a very solid offensive coach, which he has never really consistently been in the NFL. He is going to ride those coattails for as long as he can especially while he’s still getting paid nice money from Arizona.

Guys, in a league where every team exercises disinformation on a consistent basis, you really have to read the tea leaves and stop relying on the team, players and coaches to feed you information as it relates to what is going to happen. They all lie and lie is the default.

Pay attention to their actions instead:

The Saints completed Rooney Rule interviews and did not make a hire even though they were free to do so. Within 48 hours Ziegler took a job with Tennessee after he’s been helping in the coach search. Brady took himself out of consideration and stays in Buffalo. Klint Kubiak decided to take a lateral move to Seattle. Hodges, the best LBer coach we’ve possibly ever had takes a new job. Saints fly to Philly to speak to Moore the first day they can legally do a face to face even though he’s coming to New Orleans for the Superbowl. Kingsbury decides he’s no longer interested in being a head coach and wants to stay in Washington. The Saints are suddenly off Mike McCarthy.

What one thing could happen that would explain every one of these actions? The Saints are selecting Kellen Moore as head coach, and every single person involved knows it.

Personally, I think all these candidates are dropping out because it's clear that Loomis isn't going anywhere for a few years

I'm not commenting on whether or not I like ML, I'm just saying that is what I think is the main drawback for many of these coaches. ML is a strong personality and until he is gone, nobody else will get to put their stamp on the Saints. It will always be Mickey's way. These guys are looking for a clean slate where they can have input on the direction for an organization. Until ML is gone, that won't be likely.

Totally possible. But if it doesn't turn out that way there are going to be some serious fireworks around here.

its not ML. its the team talent and cap space. theres nothing for a coach to build right now. all we have is the draft

Isn't Mickey's job to acquire talent and manage cap space? Whether it's the circumstances or Mickey personally, Loomis is at the center of many of our issues.

If a coaching candidate decides he doesn't like those circumctances, then it is a Mickey issue.

he has definitely made some bad decisions in the past but he has also done some good and done a lot things many on here loved and rooted for. when they backfired we flamed him lol

It's a "what have you done for me lately" industry. Lately, Loomis has been terrible, and even if he took a healither path to building the team today, he'll still be paying for these mistakes next year.

and that’s fine. im not really for or against him. but i see who people are interviewing around the league and none of them are well and above better than the team of ML mueller and ireland

People are allowed to turn jobs down.
yea he'd rather ride the coat tails of Jayden Daniels than be something for himself.
Damn! I'd hate to hear you if you actually intended to be harsh. ;)

If I'm in his shoes, I'd think that I'm third in the pecking order. This way he doesn't get turned down for someone else. This is the last open spot. And he has a great gig in Washington.
well I give credit to Kellen Moore if he is indeed the coach that he’s brave enough for the challenge.
