Saints sign TE Foster Moreau to 3 year deal (3 Viewers)

Welcome. Hope all is well with his health and it works out. I also hope the Saints have their eyes in next years draft for TE Brock Bowers from Georgia.
Hope he’s healthy first and foremost, way more important. Secondly, I think he’s an upgrade over Trautman and this makes me very happy.

Thirdly, agree with quoted poster. Would love to have Brock next draft.

Seems like a lot, especially in guarantees, for a guy who might not play this season and is a back up.

He will most certainly not be a back up. He’s perfect for the in line blocking TE role we need. Literally. (If healthy)

Overview
Moreau is a feisty, committed run-blocking tackle with solid technique and footwork to find proper angles in-line or on the move. He's tough enough to battle at the point of attack, but at his best when he's a lead blocker on iso, wham blocks, and outside zone with his ability to locate and land on second-level targets. He lacks finesse as a route-runner and is too content to be covered when matched up against a linebacker. While he's not dynamic, he should find work as a run-blocking option who can be moved around formations.
Strengths
  • Possesses necessary base and core strength to succeed as in-line blocker
  • Understands positioning of feet and hips and usually finds it
  • Can be sticky and irritating to defenders with his desire to sustain and finish blocks

I'm trying to not get drunk on the Black and Gold Kool Aid ... but I have to admit I love nearly every offseason move the Saints have made ... Y'all know I'll "always believe" ... but it's getting to the point where I really and truly believe right now

Yeah, it's often the nature of being a fan to be hopeful and sometimes even moves that seem to make sense on paper backfire (hey, I liked the Jairus Byrd signing when it happened and the Bills fans I know hated to see him go).

But that said, I genuinely think we've made good moves this offseason and we can make the playoffs if (big IF) Dennis Allen doesn't drive the bus off a cliff.

But frees up Juwan to do Juwan things as a second, receiving TE ... great addition for the Saints

I recall reading somewhere that if he did play this season, he'd be back about halfway through (don't know if that was true, conjecture, or I'm just imagining things, though.). Does this mean he's still missing time, or he's been cleared to play by Week 1?
I read where he could possibly return in mid October. That was when he got the better news after receiving the initial news.
