Saints sign WR Brandin Cooks to a 2-year, $13 million deal

Questions I'd ask about the Brandin Cooks signing:

Is this player ascending or descending?
Why has this player not had a 1,000 yard receiving season in four years?
Is this player likely to rebound, and if so why?
What is the age of this player and is there a historical comparison that would make one think he will once again be a 1,000 WR?

This is a pathetic signing of a minimum contract WR to a bloated contract.

Find me a WR who has gone four seasons not cracking 700 yards worth $6.5 million.

Ridiculous.
We signed a veteran receiver to team with Olave, Shaheed and possibly a top WR in this upcoming draft.

The receiving room got better with this signing even if he's on the downside of his career, what he has left to give can only help a position group in need of some clutch play.

You spoke with him?
Come on man. Don’t be like that.

I could talk about your inability to simply do a little research, or how about try reading the thread where it shows examples of where he wasn’t happy with his role in Dallas.

Maybe I shouldn’t have said he thinks he’s a 1 or 2. Maybe I should have said he thinks he’s worthy still of a bigger role which he hasn’t shown. But I get it, when we don’t really know what we don’t know and just want to comment sometimes it comes out the way you did.

He sure did not get paid like a 1 or a 2
I think he knows his worth and role
Very possible. I could have misworded that for sure. He wanted a bigger role in Dallas which he wasn’t worthy of, even when Dak was healthy. Hopefully that was an ego check for him and he realizes he’s at best a #3 at this point of his career.

Relax brother, I was just teasing, not being serious. 😂

My only point was that you don’t know his mindset today. I’m sure his role was spelled out to him before signing the deal, and people change, especially when you talk about someone going from their early 20s to now their early 30s. I’d imagine he’s not a moron and knows hIs abilities and performance level have changed, and I am sure he realizes that his contract reflects that new reality.

What are the odds a WR who hasn't had 1,000 yards in four years somehow rebounds? Minicule imo. Stupid signing.
All we need him to do is catch the ball when we throw it to him. That's enough for me. Getting a thousand yards is not important. Just catch the ball WHENEVER they throw it to him.

If the contract isn't guaranteed (which I believe is the case) I feel a bit better.....if he has to make the team first.....

As much as I like the signing as a quality 3rd WR for this team and like Brandin Cooks since we drafted him, for a guy who runs a 4.3…on the field it always looks like he’s running in mud. Hes got the opposite of game speed. Hes the anti-Jerry Rice. Sure he’s running around with a lot of energy and making all kinds of steps and moves but he’s always the slowest guy on the field and always gets caught like immediately. It boggles the mind.

It’s like he lives in another dimension made of epoxy instead of air.
