Saints sign WR Brandin Cooks to a 2-year, $13 million deal

He's not being signed to be a 1,000 yard receiver. If he was, he'd have been paid about 4x as much.

I'm more worried about him coming off an injury than his production the last few years. He's here to be a #3.
Agree. Question is how many [Speedsters] 4.4-4.3 do
we currently have on the roster. I could be wrong but I think it is approximately 3-4? Again, I could be wrong, but I don't ever recall the saints ever having more than 2 speedsters on the roster. As they say, speed kills. Could it be the offensive mind is you can't go deep unless someone has the speed to catch it. Agree with many, the price tag seems a bit steep. But its not my money being thrown around.

As much as I like the signing as a quality 3rd WR for this team and like Brandin Cooks since we drafted him, for a guy who runs a 4.3…on the field it always looks like he’s running in mud. Hes got the opposite of game speed. Hes the anti-Jerry Rice. Sure he’s running around with a lot of energy and making all kinds of steps and moves but he’s always the slowest guy on the field and always gets caught like immediately. It boggles the mind.

It’s like he lives in another dimension made of epoxy instead of air.

He's got terrible field vision, like awful.....he should be very elusive with his quickness......he's just not.....

This. Payton kept trying to get him the ball in open space in the flats expecting him to elusive and break it open. He simply couldn't just like the Rams' Tavon Austin. They only looked the part.

How about positioning it as something like “here’s some good rationale for the Cooks signing” instead of calling out other posters.
With the language that some people that do not like the Cooks signing have been using , hater seems quite appropriate

I’d say the Ricky trade was the worst. Disagree on the Loomis assertion too, and that’s ok.

And not gonna bother to try and convince you of anything, you’re the most closed-minded poster on this site imo. And that’s all good, fan how ya wanna. I’m cool with you having different opinions than me about our favorite team.

A quick and easy look up for Finks tho, and I remember him fondly as a young Saints fan, seems his peers thought a lot of him too:

Jim Finks, a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, is renowned for transforming the New Orleans Saints into a winning team, including their first winning season in franchise history and multiple playoff appearances.

Here's a more detailed look at his accomplishments with the Saints:
  • Turned around a struggling franchise:
Finks, as the Saints' president and general manager, took over a team that had been a perennial loser and transformed it into a contender.

  • First winning season:
In just his second season at the helm, the Saints achieved their first winning season in their 19-year history, winning 12 games.

  • Multiple playoff appearances:
Under Finks, the Saints advanced to the playoffs four times from 1987 to 1992.

  • NFC Western Division title:
In 1991, the Saints won the NFC Western Division title, a significant achievement for the franchise.

  • Recognized as an NFL Executive of the Year:
Finks was named NFL Executive of the Year for the second time during his tenure with the Saints.

  • Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame:
Finks's contributions to the Saints, and his overall impact on the NFL, earned him a place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995.

  • Other Hall of Fame recognitions:
He was also inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Greater New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame.
Win a superb owl- Loomis

This is a good quality depth signing for insurance in case of injury. Olave' is not going to be traded. Yeah Cooks slowed down a little, but he is still getting open. From the recent videos y'all have put out, it plainly shows this. He catches balls for 1st downs and TD's. So if he's getting open and making the catches, what is the point of your arguments against signing him.
