Saints signed Kicker Charlie Smyth (re-signed to 2 year deal) (2 Viewers)

I would expect if Grupe keeps doing what he's doing he will be fine. Dude has been solid. If we got rid of Grupe he would be picked up in 5 minutes.
He's been ok. Nothing great and not terrible. He was 15th in the NFL this season in FG % made. I thought he was actually better than that but I guess not. So he has finished 27th one year and 15th the other. Far from solid, but not terribly bad.

He was also 28th in the NFL in EP %

***as pointed out to me by a fellow poster I made a mistake not looking at how many kickers just filled in for someone and kicked a limited number of kicks. That’s a lazy effort on my behalf. I didn’t mean any disrespect to Blake***

You are simply clicking the NFL stats and not looking at the fact that one of those guys kicked 1 FG all year and 3-4 played only a handful of games. He is realistically around 10th-11th in FG%. He missed 4 FG all year and 2 were from 50+. He has been solid.

So he was 31 of 33 on Extra points.
27 of 31 on kicks with a long of 57. 2 misses was against Giants in wind and from around 60 of I'm not mistaken.
Increased his % from 81 to 87. So take away the 2 from 60 and he was 27 of 29. Y'all be asking too much from a kicker. Dude was frickin solid. Go ahead and cut him. Like I said he would picked up in 5 minutes.
Justin Tucker, one of the best, was 73.3% this year. Hmm

Yea you’re right. I had a classroom full of kids and half looked at it. Complete screw up on my behalf.

He was good this year like I said I thought he was, but the numbers threw me off. Anything around 85% is considered good and he was at 87% this season.

His missed 7 kicks last year weren’t good, but he was much better this year.

I did say I thought he had a better year than those numbers, but didn’t have time to dig in to them.

Lol stop comparing him to the goat. You can’t pick the worst year of a guys career and use that as a basis, even though he was back to being the best in the NFL the last few weeks it seems.

I never said the guy was bad and obviously I said I thought he was better than the numbers I found.

I simply made a mistake and didn’t look at the guys who barely had any attempts

All I know is when Grupe goes out there I’m not the least bit worried. That’s all I ask from my kicker.

I can't believe that this is even a discussion.

If there is a position of need on this team (of which there are many ) kicker isn't one of them.
