NFL Draft Saints: The case for and against drafting a QB (1 Viewer)

Do not need to if JW is the backup. As long as we are built to win with a veteran QB, we'll probably always have a veteran backup.

Drafting a QB is a wasted pick. So many players of great quality can be picked in that place.

Odds of a QB drafted out of the first round doing anything significant in the NFL is very. It seems good odds, it is only because guys Cousins and Dak have long Careers.

Plus like some one said we have JW. Even Hill is most likely better than what you will find in the Draft

This type of thinking, while it makes sense, is why we are in the position we are in now. This is why we have no quarterback waiting in the wings and we had to pay Carr that contract.

Wouldn't you want a round 4-7 QB to be your backup developing behind Carr? Why not? We don't draft very well after the 2nd round so why not?

I agree with that. N.O made a poor effort at finding at QB in the draft in Brees final years. It seemed like Taysom Hill was the plan along with trying to find gold with Winston. It ended up being a recipe for disaster.

But we have a prime Carr and as much as possible should be invested in making him successful this and next year. Now down the road yeah let's start drafting QBs and stocking up the defense.
